All central system components<br />
(SICAM and <strong>SIPROTEC</strong> 4 CPUs,<br />
SICAM WinCC, SICAM plus<br />
TOOLS, bay controllers and protection<br />
equipment), as well as the<br />
DIGSI 4 operating program, are<br />
established on the same basis.<br />
The ability to link SICAM/SIPRO-<br />
TEC and other components of the<br />
substation control, protection and<br />
automation is assured via open<br />
interfaces, such as<br />
IEC 60870-5-103 or PROFIBUS.<br />
Service interface<br />
The service interface can be used<br />
asa2 nd operating interface.<br />
DIGSI 4 offers the additional possibility<br />
of accessing bay controllers<br />
via modem. Thus the full<br />
range of DIGSI 4 functionality is<br />
available at the office desk or<br />
when travelling (by laptop and modem).<br />
This permits rapid and extensive<br />
access <strong>for</strong> the service personnel.<br />
All settings and control<br />
commands are available and it is<br />
possible to read the operational<br />
and fault event logs, fault records<br />
as well as ope- rational measured<br />
values.<br />

Star coupler<br />
All <strong>SIPROTEC</strong> units operate also<br />
with the proven star coupler. The<br />
star coupler is used <strong>for</strong> simple<br />
applications which also give the<br />
user an alternative method of<br />
retrieving in<strong>for</strong>mation remotely.<br />
