Electronic Payment
Government services that require payment, allow users to affect this using
online credit and debit cards. It is possible to pay for the services related to
examinations, licences, taxation, and public registry certificates amongst others.
myBills provides Government entitites with a central platform for the
processing of online payments. It provides consumers of eGovernment services
with a single payment method that meets the highest industry security
standards and provides a uniform payment experience across all Government
of Malta services. myBills is certified to be Payment Card Industry Data Security
Standard (PCI-DSS) compliant.
Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP)
The EBPP is a process that enables bills to be created, delivered and paid
through a central portal over the Internet. myBills incorporates an application
programming interface (API) that facilitates integration to back office billing
systems thus allowing Government merchants to bill customers and receive
payments electronically through a central portal over the internet.
The myBills portal can be accessed through https://bills.mygov.mt/.
Functions of myBills
Hosted Payment Page (HPP)
The HPP provides merchants with the required functionality to securely
process online payments through their own websites. It operates by essentially
redirecting customers on the merchant website to a separate, secure page to
enter confidential / sensitive payment data. The page has the same look and
feel of the merchant website, but is hosted by a trusted third party such that
the merchant never gains access to the payment data. The status of processed
payments is then communicated in real-time to the web application via a
backchannel.
