Registration Analysts - Charities Commission
Fixed Term Agreement ending 28 October 2008)
The Charities Commission is responsible for registering organisations
seeking charitable status, monitoring their activities, receiving
annual returns, providing education and support to the sector
in relation to matters of good governance and management, and
advising the government on charity-related issues.
Registration Analysts are responsible for analysing and assessing
applications, annual returns and notices of change submitted to
the Commission. This includes research, writing opinions and
making judgments on whether organisations meet the requirements
of the Charities Act. You will be required to liaise with
applicants and work closely with the Principal Advisor and Senior
Analysts.
To be considered for one of the roles, applicants will ideally be
recent law graduates, or have experience in a compliance registration
role within the state sector; have experience in interpreting
legislation and be able to gain an appreciation of the charitable

Researcher, Te Ara - the Encyclopedia of NZ - Ministry for Culture
and Heritage
The Ministry for Culture and Heritage is working on an Encyclopedia
of New Zealand, published progressively both on the internet
and in print form. The Encyclopedia aims to provide a comprehensive
guide to the peoples, natural environment, history, culture,
and social development of New Zealand. It is a resource for a
wide range of users, from school students working on projects
through to academics doing research.
The Ministry now seeks applications for a researcher to assist with
the gathering of images, sounds, film clips, maps and original
documents to enhance encyclopedia entries online.
The appointee should possess a good knowledge of New Zealand
history. They should also have a demonstrable familiarity with
New Zealand's heritage institutions, well-developed skills in research
and some acquaintance with New Zealand's visual and material
cultures. A high level of computer literacy would be an advantage.
The appointment will be for the remainder of the project
(approximately 4 years), starting in June 2007. For further information
