Registration Analysts - Charities Commission<br />

Fixed Term Agreement ending 28 October 2008)<br />

The Charities Commission is responsible <strong>for</strong> registering organisations<br />

seeking charitable status, monitoring their activities, receiving<br />

annual returns, providing education <strong>and</strong> support to the sector<br />

in relation to matters <strong>of</strong> good governance <strong>and</strong> management, <strong>and</strong><br />

advising the government on charity-related issues.<br />

Registration Analysts are responsible <strong>for</strong> analysing <strong>and</strong> assessing<br />

applications, annual returns <strong>and</strong> notices <strong>of</strong> change submitted to<br />

the Commission. This includes research, writing opinions <strong>and</strong><br />

making judgments on whether organisations meet the requirements<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Charities Act. You will be required to liaise with<br />

applicants <strong>and</strong> work closely with the Principal Advisor <strong>and</strong> Senior<br />

Analysts.<br />

To be considered <strong>for</strong> one <strong>of</strong> the roles, applicants will ideally be<br />

recent law graduates, or have experience in a compliance registration<br />

role within the state sector; have experience in interpreting<br />

legislation <strong>and</strong> be able to gain an appreciation <strong>of</strong> the charitable<br />

<strong>Research</strong>er, Te Ara - the Encyclopedia <strong>of</strong> NZ - Ministry <strong>for</strong> Culture<br />

<strong>and</strong> Heritage<br />

The Ministry <strong>for</strong> Culture <strong>and</strong> Heritage is working on an Encyclopedia<br />

<strong>of</strong> New Zeal<strong>and</strong>, published progressively both on the internet<br />

<strong>and</strong> in print <strong>for</strong>m. The Encyclopedia aims to provide a comprehensive<br />

guide to the peoples, natural environment, history, culture,<br />

<strong>and</strong> social development <strong>of</strong> New Zeal<strong>and</strong>. It is a resource <strong>for</strong> a<br />

wide range <strong>of</strong> users, from school students working on projects<br />

through to academics doing research.<br />

The Ministry now seeks applications <strong>for</strong> a researcher to assist with<br />

the gathering <strong>of</strong> images, sounds, film clips, maps <strong>and</strong> original<br />

documents to enhance encyclopedia entries online.<br />

The appointee should possess a good knowledge <strong>of</strong> New Zeal<strong>and</strong><br />

history. They should also have a demonstrable familiarity with<br />

New Zeal<strong>and</strong>'s heritage institutions, well-developed skills in research<br />

<strong>and</strong> some acquaintance with New Zeal<strong>and</strong>'s visual <strong>and</strong> material<br />

cultures. A high level <strong>of</strong> computer literacy would be an advantage.<br />

The appointment will be <strong>for</strong> the remainder <strong>of</strong> the project<br />
