Shirley Dawe President Shirley Dawe Associates Inc. Shirley Dawe has more than three decades of business experience as a senior executive, consultant and corporate director to leading retailers and marketers of branded consumer goods. Shirley rose to the position of National General Manager of The Hudson’s Bay Company, responsible for the marketing, merchandising and procurement for the six Soft Goods divisions across Canada. In 1986 she went on to build a retail management consulting practice, Shirley Dawe Associates Inc., and since then she has served on the boards of twelve ‘for-profit’ companies and seven ‘not-for-profit’ boards. Currently, Shirley serves on the board of three public companies: National Bank of Canada, Montreal, (TSX) member of the Committees of HR, Corporate Governance and Succession Planning. David Folk Co-founder and Managing General Partner Jefferson Partners David is a passionate dealmaker and company builder with over two decades investment experience. As Managing General Partner of Jefferson Partners, he is responsible for all of Jefferson’s investment activities. Jefferson currently manages Jefferson Funds II, III and IV with combined committed capital of approximately $250 million. David has served on the boards of numerous private and public companies and has been instrumental to the success of Jefferson’s portfolio companies including Quack.com (acquired by AOL), iStar (IPO, acquired by PSINET), Wescam (IPO, acquired by L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL)), and Applied Terravision (acquired by CGI). David currently serves on the board of directors of TrueContext Corp.; Avotus Corporation; BorderWare Technologies Inc. and Natural Convergence Inc. Passionate about social change, David co-founded, and is Chair of eMagine, a national philanthropic initiative that aims to raise $1 billion in commitments from the entrepreneurial and investment community over the next decade. David is a Director and Co-Chair of the Membership Committee of the Canadian Venture Capital Association, and is a member of Young President's Organization (YPO) and of the Ontario Task Force on Competitiveness, Prosperity and Innovation.
John Macdonald President & CEO The Consumers’ Water Heater Income Fund John Macdonald recently joined The Consumers’ Water Heater Income Fund as President & CEO. Mr. Macdonald is the former President and CEO of Hydro One Telecom where he grew the company from a concept to the largest utility-based telecom company in Canada. Prior to Hydro, John was President of ShareTel and held Senior Marketing positions at AT&T Canada and Nortel. John is a Registered Professional Engineer with a B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto. The Consumers’ Water Heater Income Fund (TSX:CWI.UN) is engaged in the water heater rental business with over 1.3 million natural gas-fired water heaters, rented primarily to residential customers in Ontario. The Fund has about 50% of Ontario’s residential market with most of its business in the Greater Toronto Area. The Fund’s objective is to generate a stable and growing cash flow stream, which will in turn be reflected in stable and growing unit holder cash distributions. John Vivash President Tesseract Financial Inc. John Vivash has over fifty years experience in the Canadian securities and investment industries, including positions as President & CEO of Manulife Securities International Inc; President, CEO, and Chairman of CIBC Securities Inc., and President & CEO of Fidelity Investments Canada Limited. Mr. Vivash is currently a Director of State Street Trust Company Canada and Institute for Intellectual Capital Research, and chairs the Governance Committees at all of : Draxis Health Inc., Sierra Systems Group, and Cangene Corporation. His past directorships have included: Canadian Real Estate Investment Trust (Trustee) Financial Models Inc. (Chairman) International Hospitality (Chairman) M.D. Funds Management Inc. Maxx Petroleum Inc. Merfin International Inc. Unihost Corporation (Chair, Governance Committee) He began his career at Ross, Knowles & Co. in administration and trading, and progressed through more responsible positions in marketing and product management at T.A. Richardson and Co. and Midland Doherty, and gained particular expertise in options marketing and trading. He has been a guest lecturer at the Business Schools of University of Alberta, University of Toronto, and University of Western Ontario, and taught more than 500 seminars in various investment subjects in Canada, USA, and Europe. John has also served the Canadian business community as a member of the Board of Governors of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada, and on the Ontario Securities Commission Working Committee to recommend changes to the Canadian Mutual Fund Industry. He has also been a Director for the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation and the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine Dean’s Advisory Group.
