Final Competition: Graeme Booth Partner KPMG LLP Graeme Booth leads KPMG’s Risk and Resilience practice in Toronto which focuses broadly on governance, risk and control and incorporates internal and IT auditing, regulatory compliance, financial and treasury risk management, internal controls, governance and information risk management. In addition to his Risk & Resilience responsibilities, Mr. Booth is also the Lead Partner for the KPMG Information Risk Management (IRM) practice in Canada and is the Global Product Lead for the Firm’s IS Governance product offerings. He has extensive experience across a variety of industries including Financial Services, Technology, and Manufacturing. Mr. Booth is a Certified Management Accountant and a Graduate of the Graduate Management Programme, Ashridge Management School, London England. John Chippindale President Integro (Canada) Ltd. As President of Integro (Canada), John Chippindale directs business strategy and resources and cultivates executive level relationships with clients and prospects. Over 25 years in the insurance brokerage business, John has been an active leader in driving innovation and engineering change in the Insurance sector. This involvement has encompassed domestic and international client service, as well as global strategy and product development in both the Commercial and Employee Benefit insurance segments. Prior to becoming a founding Managing Principal of Integro Insurance Brokers in May 2005, John devoted 24 years with Marsh & McLennan where he was appointed President & CEO of Marsh Canada Ltd. in 2000, followed by Global CEO for the Consumer & Commercial Business in 2003. John graduated from Bishop’s University in Lennoxville, Quebec with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in Finance. Thereafter, he became an Associate of the Insurance Institute of Canada (A.I.I.C.) and achieved the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) diploma. He is a frequent public speaker on such topics as Enterprise Risk Management, Corporate Governance and Global Market Conditions, and serves as Chair, Board of Governors, Junior Achievement of Central Ontario, and a member of National Economic Policy Group. Bruce Simpson Managing Partner, Canada, and Director McKinsey & Company Bruce Simpson became Managing Partner of the Canadian practice in July 2000. Previously, he worked in the Paris office for 13 years, assisting clients in multiple sectors on change management, and operations issues. Before that, he spent a year in the New York office on various engagements for consumer goods clients. He is a core member of McKinsey’s worldwide Operations practice. He has particular expertise in change management and continuous improvement – what it takes to build ongoing continuous improvement into the organizations of clients. Bruce has co-led McKinsey’s extensive research on these issues for 10 years and helped multiple teams across the world on these topics. He was also a co-leader of the European Manufacturing practice. Bruce, a Scot, was born and grew up in Glasgow, where he attended Jordanhill College School. His father was Professor of Pathology at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and his mother, an author, is a D.L. for the city. Bruce completed an International Baccalaureate at the International School of Geneva and then read Law at Cambridge
University, graduating with both a BA and an MA degree. He then worked as coach of the English Alpine Ski Team for 2 years before going to Wharton Business School. Bruce graduated in 1986 with both an MBA specializing in finance and an MA in International Studies from the Lauder Institute. He was a Thouron Fellow at Wharton. Bruce worked in product management at Procter and Gamble in Geneva Switzerland prior to joining McKinsey in 1987. Nigel Stokes Chairman, CEO & President DataMirror Corporation Nigel Stokes guides DataMirror's strategic vision and direction. Under Nigel's leadership, DataMirror was named to the Deloitte & Touche Fast 500, and he won Emerging Entrepreneur of the year from Ernst & Young. Nigel has 25 years of IT experience with a variety of companies and industries. Nigel co-founded DataMirror in 1993 to produce Intelligent Data Replication software for enterprise applications. He is an early innovator in Data-Warehousing, ETL and Data Replication. He has designed and architected ETL, Data Replication and Data Warehousing products for industry, since 1990. As a thought leader in the software market, he defined innovative concepts around Active Data Warehousing, Data Transformation and Intelligent Data Replication. Under his direction, DataMirror went public in 1996 (TSX: DMC), completed strategic acquisitions, and in 1998 was the seed investor in the PointBase Java database. Nigel was formerly Co-Founder and President of Nidak, Managing Director of SHL Systemhouse, and a Principal at Woods Gordon (now Ernst & Young). Nidak, which was purchased by SHL Systemhouse, specialized in the development of custom business applications, relational databases and data warehouses for corporate clients. Nidak ranked as the eleventh fastest growing company in Canada and won two Canada Awards for Business Excellence. As an Executive and Consultant, he has delivered sophisticated software projects for financial institutions, manufacturing, retail, healthcare and other industries. Nigel holds an M.B.A. from the University of Toronto, an M.A.Sc., System Design Engineering from Waterloo University, and a B.Sc. from Queen’s University, and is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC). Mark Usher Partner Wellington Financial LP Mark Usher is a Partner in Wellington Financial LP, a Toronto based, privately-held, bridge finance & venture debt fund. Prior to joining Wellington Financial in mid-2006 Mr. Usher gained 16 years of finance experience, primarily as Royal Bank’s Vice-President responsible for Knowledge Based Industries practice for Ontario. Mark's career began in 1988 at Royal Bank. He joined RBC's Commercial Banking Group in 1993, where his roles included marketing and strategy in the Bank’s head office, and as a Senior Account Manager. Mark was recruited by Cisco Systems in 2000 to join the Cisco Capital structured finance team in Toronto, where he financed the sales of Cisco equipment and services to customers in Canada and the US Eastern Seaboard using a combination of debt and equity structures. Mark returned to Royal Bank in 2001 to lead the bank’s Information Technology Banking team in the Greater Toronto Area. Mark holds an MBA from Queen’s University School of Business, and is a Director of York Technology Association and the Toronto Venture Group.
