I would firstly like to thanks Karen &
The Girls for wearing the black arm
bands on Saturday on the passing of
my grandmother, It was a very kind
gesture, We welcomed to the team for
the first time Dahlia, Who comes to us
from the Bayswater bombers, having
been playing seniors this season at the
age of 14 Dahlia has joied the youth
girls at Warrandyte Park Orchards and
probably a better age group for her
own developement, Well we hit the
field facing an army from Chirnside, The
were a very very hard battling team,
And their persistance definately paid
off, they scored 6-7 and in YGT thats
a resonable score, However we never
looked overpowered throughout the
game, We certainly missed the strength
of Louise & Danni in the side, there
strenght and experience makes a huge
difference in the overall balance of our
structures, but both girls have been tied
up with interleague duties over the past
few weeks, and have done extremely
well and are set to bring some much
talent back into the side as a result of
their experience, We did some good
things through the game, With Maddy
Dodd putting her mark on the game
and opening up the scoring with a goal,
Also narrowly missing another late in the
game,She was also getting in and under
earning free kicks and by playing in front,
And continued throughout the game
chasing and creating options probably
one of her best games this season,
Courtney was concerned at qtr time that
she wasnt having an impact at that she
couldnt get her hands on the ball , that
all changed and Courtney was also back
to her best teaming up with Maddy for
the clearances, taking on the tacklers
and working clear in what was one of her
best for the year, Micaela also was a solid
performer and kept fairly busy playing
full back in Louise absence, and she
perfomed well under the pressure she
was getting from the Chirnside attack,
Our marking early in the game was a big
problem with many players struggling to
hold even chest marks, but that cleared
up once the frost melted and we marked
stronger in the second half, Dahlia our
newest team mate swithed into the ruck
from qtr time after Charity also raised
concerns about her timing in her leap
and not being happy about how it was
going and asked for the switch to be
made, Again 2 players raising concerns
and asking for it to be addressed, Thats
the type of selflessness that will see this
team have a real impact into next year,
The switch worked fantastic, Dahlia was
a tough oponent to beat in the ruck, and
I dodnt remember seeing anyone one
escape a Charity tackle on the half back
line, Charity sometimes questions her
results, when in actual fact she has had
such a huge impact, Keep up the good
work Charity your kickin butt, Another
player we missed was Amelia due to
work commitments making Maddie
K a busy player, And in usual Maddie K
fashion, She worked hard all game to
try and lock down part of the back line,
Chasing hard and not quiting seems to
be her motto. In general the girls worked
well together but were often second to
the contest, Hoping we come out firing
this wekend, and if so we will do well.
