(2004) investigated repaglinide, a prandial secretagogue, as a strategy for reducing postprandial hyperglycemia in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Patients enrolled in the study were randomized to receive either repaglinide or glyburide. Those who received repaglinide had a reduction in the progression of carotid intima-media thickness when compared to those who received glyburide. The data from this study would support the findings of the STOP-NIDDM trial (previous slide).
