CONGRESS CENTER NICE<br />

Located in Southern Europe in the south eastern region of France, Nice is a privileged crossroads between<br />

the Alps, Provence, Corsica and Italy. The city occupies an exceptional natural site in the heart of the French<br />

Riviera. It stretches over a coastal plain southward into the Mediterranean and bounded from East to West<br />

by a succession of hills. In the background, rise the first peaks of the Alpine foothills, some reaching over<br />

9000 ft above sea level, only 31 miles (from the coast) as the crow flies...<br />

AIR TRAVEL AND ACCESS TO THE VENUE PASS<br />

By taxi from the Airport<br />

The Nice Côte d’Azur airport is located at about 8 km distance from the conference venue. The costs for a<br />

taxi taking you to the Acropolis venue are about 30 EUR and it takes approximatly 20 minutes.<br />

Public transport from the Airport<br />

Approximatly 30 min, 4 EUR:<br />

Bus no. 98, direction: “Gare Routiere” until “Cathedrale / Vieille Ville” stop, there you hop on bus no. 16<br />

direction: “Ariane / General Saramito” until the “Risso/ Palais” stop, which is within 2 minutes walking<br />

distance from the venue.<br />

By rail<br />

Travel fast and comfortably to Nice with the French railways (SNCF) from different locations. From the<br />

station, you have the possibility of taking the tramway at the “Gare Thiers” stop, direction “Pont Michel” and<br />

get off at the “Palais des Expositions” stop. The conference venue is opposite to the stop.<br />

Currency<br />

The currency used in France is European EURO (EUR, €). Notes are available in units of EUR 5, 10, 20, 50,<br />

100, 200, and coins in units of Cent 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and EUR 1 and 2.<br />

Traveller’s checks and currencies from most countries can be exchanged for European EUR at major banks<br />

and hotels. Only European EUR is accepted at regular stores and restaurants.<br />

Business Hours<br />

Bank Mo - Fri 10:00–13:00 / 14:00–17:00 Closed on Saturday afternoon, Sundays and holidays.<br />

For the use of mobile phones in Nice, France, they must be designed for the GSM frequency-bands 900<br />

MHz or 1800 MHz.<br />

Credit Cards<br />

International credit cards such as Master Card, Visa, American Express and Diners Club are widely accepted<br />

at hotels, department stores, large shops and restaurants.<br />

Tax and Tipping<br />

In France there is the custom of paying 10 percent of the amount of the bill as tipping in restaurants.<br />

A 19,6% sales tax applies to almost all consumer goods sold in France.<br />

Climate<br />

Nice has the advantage of an exceptional micro-climate which has contributed to its worldwide renown for<br />

almost 200 years. Although the city opens onto the sea, Nice is protected from the wind by the surrounding<br />

hills and the Estérel Mountains to the west, and the north-western barrier of the Mercantour Alps. The sea<br />

breezes give a mild climate in winter and reduce the heat in the summer.<br />
