Apparently Lisa Valerie kudrow-Stern is my
favorite Friends because the only time I ever
laughed at that show was because of her. Anyways,
10 years after the cancellation of the show
I’m It, Valerie Cherish is followed by a reality
television crew while also starring in a sitcom
called room and Bored. Desperate for attention
and full of self-delusion, she tried to put a positive
spin on the ever increasing embarrassment
that is her life.

Dogtooth (Kynodontas)

Obsessively over protective parents shield their
three adult children to the point that they are
never allowed to leave the exterior walls of the
family home, until their dogtooth fall out. Fearing
the horrors outside the two sisters and brother
live in an arrested state of development, rewarded
shiny stickers if they stay in dad’s favor. The
parents toss toy planes for the eager kids when
the real thing flies over & redefine words that
may introduce unwanted elements to the insular
family. Father brings a parking attendant to have
sex with the son but she gives one of the sisters
contraband videos and must be dealt with. Manufacturing
stories about a brother who left the
house and who was slaughtered by a house cat.
Things progress from uncomfortable to taboo &
gruesome in this darkly comedic greek.

Cage wannabe atonal musician. His experimental
New York trio, The New Sound Ensemble,
screech, rip paper, rattle chains, and kick a bucket
in a pretentious cacophony. He is repulsed and
yet attracted to his biggest fan, gallery owner
Madeleine (Marley Shelton) whose aesthetic for
noisy avant-garde fashion overwhelms his band’s
humorless clatter. He loathes sellouts but needs
money so he must write a commissioned piece
for a “challenging” conceptual-art show.

Heartless) explores the nightmare of childhood.
Dick pope’s cinematography evokes painter Andrew
Wyeth’s grey barns and grassy farmlands.

Andreya Triana – Lost Where I
Belong (NINJA TUNE)
produced by Simon green (a.k.a. Bonobo), a
great addition to the killer Black Sands album
he put out earlier in 2010 that also featured Andreya.
She has a great original, pure and warm
voice, plus Bonobo’s production is topnotch
throughout. The album is short at nine tracks
and though I wish there were more it’s definitely
satisfying. Standout tracks: “Lost Where
I Belong,” “Far Closer,” “Up In Fire,” “A Town
Called Obsolete.”
Ghostface Killah – Apollo Kids
(DEF JAM)
Tony Starks takes the youngins to school on this
one, murdering as usual… a lot of sick production,
flipping various hip-hop samples from the
past in a new way. plus, guest artists who shine
throughout. True Wu/ghost heads are gonna dig
the hero for sure on this release. Too bad due
to poor promotion from the label it flew over
a lot of heads. Standout tracks: “Drama,” “In
The park,” “Troublemakers,” “Handcuffin Them
Hoes.”
Madlib – Medicine Show #8:
Advanced Jazz (STONES THrOW)
Madlib kills it on the decks and this one clocks
in over 70 minutes… SUpErB mix of rare jazz,
bebop, straight-ahead, fusion, avant-garde, you
name it, it’s here — plus dialog from various
sources, including comedy records/shows etc,
throughout the mix to keep you in the blunted
zone you started the mix with ;) I ALSO NOMI-
NATE THIS EASILY ONE OF THE BEST ALBUM
COVErS OF 2010!
