GENERAL INFORMATION<br />

RESIDENT DISCOUNTS<br />

Purchase a <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Wentzville</strong> Resident Card and<br />

you will receive a reduced daily admission fee<br />

for entrance into the recreation facility and<br />

pool. <strong>The</strong> Resident Photo ID card fee is $5. At<br />

the time <strong>of</strong> purchase, the resident will receive a<br />

one time free entry into the facilities. Please<br />

bring pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> residency such as; personal<br />

property tax receipt, or <strong>City</strong> water/sewer bill.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Resident Card is valid for two years.<br />

ACTIVITY HOTLINE<br />

In the event <strong>of</strong> inclement weather it may be<br />

necessary to cancel a program. Please call the<br />

activity/rainout hotline to check the status <strong>of</strong><br />

WE P.L.A.Y SCHOLARSHIP<br />

WENTZVILLE RESIDENTS ONLY<br />

WE P.L.A.Y Scholarship program is an acronym<br />

for <strong>Wentzville</strong> Providing Leisure Assistance for<br />

Youth. This program is designed to provide youth<br />

access to the recreation and leisure activities <strong>of</strong><br />

their choice, regardless <strong>of</strong> their ability to pay.<br />

Who is eligible?<br />

<strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Wentzville</strong> residents who are experiencing<br />

financial difficulty or who are in a unique,<br />

hardship situation may apply.<br />

How does the program work?<br />

Children residing within the <strong>City</strong> limits and qualify<br />

through the established guidelines <strong>of</strong> free lunch<br />

program utilized by the <strong>Wentzville</strong> School District<br />

are eligible to apply. Children who do not receive<br />

the reduced or free lunch program may still<br />

qualify and are encouraged to apply if assistance<br />

is needed. Children ages 17 and under are<br />

eligible to receive one program scholarship per<br />

brochure with a maximum <strong>of</strong> three per year.<br />

GENERAL INFORMATION<br />

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM<br />

Get involved in your community AND meet lots<br />

<strong>of</strong> new people! <strong>The</strong> volunteer program currently<br />

consists <strong>of</strong> individuals who have donated<br />

thousands <strong>of</strong> hours <strong>of</strong> their time to help improve<br />

the quality <strong>of</strong> the programs <strong>of</strong>fered at the Parks<br />

and Recreation Department. Volunteers are<br />

asked to commit a minimum <strong>of</strong> 10 hours <strong>of</strong><br />

service per year. “Park Bucks” are issued for<br />

time which can be used to register for any<br />

program where pre-registration is required,<br />

annual memberships, or volunteers are welcome<br />

to donate their park bucks to a child who could<br />

use them. In addition, each volunteer will receive<br />

a volunteer staff shirt. Volunteers work a wide<br />

range <strong>of</strong> events including the Easter Egg Hunt,<br />

Halloween Happenings, July 4 th Celebration,<br />

Summer Concert Series, Movie in the Park,<br />

Holiday Night Lights, Senior Dinner & Dances and<br />

FRIENDS <strong>OF</strong> THE WENTZVILLE<br />

PARKS<br />

Friends <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Wentzville</strong> parks is a 501(c)3, nonpr<strong>of</strong>it<br />

organization. <strong>The</strong> mission <strong>of</strong> Friends <strong>of</strong> the<br />

<strong>Wentzville</strong> Parks is to help bring about a world<br />

class parks and recreation department to the <strong>City</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Wentzville</strong>. <strong>The</strong> organization is determined to<br />

raise both awareness and money for our parks.<br />

Established in 2008, FOWP has been working for<br />

the community through activities and fund<br />

REFUND POLICY<br />

Refund requests may be made over the phone, e-mail (parkinfo@wentzvillemo.org), or in<br />

person Monday-Friday from 8:00am–5:00pm. Refunds will be granted for the following cases:<br />

1. A full refund will be made if a program is cancelled, except online registrations where an<br />

online processing fee occurs.<br />

2. If the participant withdraws from the program (EXCLUDING ADULT LEAGUES) before the first<br />

class, the department must receive a request and then a full refund will be given, less a $10<br />

administrative fee.<br />

3. If the participant withdraws from the program after the first class, the department requires a<br />

request and then a pro-rated refund will be given, less a $10 administrative fee.<br />

4. If the participant becomes ill or injured and must withdraw from the program, a doctor’s<br />

written excuse is required and a refund will be issued on a pro-rated basis, less a $10<br />

administrative fee.<br />

5. If the participant moves out <strong>of</strong> the area, a refund will be issued on a pro-rated basis, less a<br />

$10 administrative fee.<br />

6. All youth league refunds will be less the cost <strong>of</strong> uniforms.<br />

7. No refunds will be issued after the program is half over.<br />

8. No refunds will be issued for adult leagues after the registration deadline.<br />

9. <strong>The</strong>re will be an administrative fee assessed for all rental cancellations.<br />

Progress Park Membership<br />

<strong>Wentzville</strong> Parks and Recreation is making a unique <strong>of</strong>fer to celebrate<br />

2013! Every Progress Park complex or recreation membership purchased or<br />

renewed throughout the year will receive an extra month free!<br />

13 months for the price <strong>of</strong> 12. A healthy, happy community is our goal.<br />

<strong>The</strong> weight room is equipped with cardiovascular equipment, and<br />

strength training equipment including dumbbells and free weights.<br />

<strong>The</strong> gymnasium is available for rent before and after hours. Reservation must be made 30 days in<br />

$50 for two hours minimum. Each additional hour is $25.<br />

$500 per day for organized tournament or event during operating hours.<br />

Pavilion<br />

Picnic shelters may be reserved by groups or individuals. Pavilions are available for full day rentals<br />

(8am-10pm) at Progress Park, Fireman’s Park and Rotary Park.<br />

Progress park center rental<br />

Progress Park Center is an ideal place for wedding receptions, family reunions, parties, business and<br />

social meetings, baby showers, birthdays, all special events. <strong>The</strong> center includes a full kitchen, walk-in<br />

cooler, and a 43’ x 25’ wood dance floor. Seating can be accommodated for up to 225 people. We<br />

supply you with round tables and chairs, and cleaning service.<br />

Meeting rentals are available Monday through Thursday from 8:30am-5:00pm and Sundays noon-<br />

6:00pm.<br />

This music filled class celebrates the unique joys <strong>of</strong> your<br />

growing child. Each week your child will love singing,<br />

dancing, and playing instruments with you and their new<br />

friends. You will love helping them practice a wide variety <strong>of</strong><br />

abilities such as gross and fine motor skills, turn-taking,<br />

social skills, and active listening. In class we’ll also share<br />

10TH ANNUAL MISSION CLEAN STREAM<br />

We are teaming up with GM this year for our 10 th anniversary<br />

celebration and Earth Day related festivities. Join hundreds <strong>of</strong><br />

volunteers, Greenway Network, Inc. and other cities in this major<br />

clean up to help restore the Peruque and Dry Branch Creeks.<br />

<strong>The</strong>se streams are important to the health <strong>of</strong> our community and<br />

support a variety <strong>of</strong> wildlife and land uses from agriculture to<br />

recreation and industry. Individuals, families and community<br />

groups are invited to participate. Meet at General Motors<br />

Assembly plant where you will team up and be directed to a clean<br />

-up site. (Volunteers must provide transportation to clean-up<br />

sites.) After the clean-up return to GM site for lunch and<br />

festivities. Bring your water bottle and gloves if you have them!<br />

It is never too early to get a “Jump Start” on basketball. Come to Progress Park gymnasium and<br />

learn the basics <strong>of</strong> basketball through interactive instruction and games. <strong>The</strong> “Jump Start” program<br />

is a four week instructional program that will cover basketball skills using modified equipment for 3-<br />

5 year olds. Each child will work one-on-one with their parent/guardian in performing various drills ,<br />

relays, and games related to basketball. <strong>The</strong> program will cover areas such as, shooting, passing,<br />

<strong>The</strong> Youth Baseball/S<strong>of</strong>tball leagues are designed for children<br />

<strong>of</strong> all abilities. <strong>The</strong> league has three levels <strong>of</strong> play depending on<br />

the skills <strong>of</strong> the child. Practices begin in March with games<br />

beginning in April or May depending on the age level. Team<br />

registration and individual registrations are accepted. Children<br />

registering individually will be randomly placed on draft teams.<br />

A copy <strong>of</strong> the child’s birth certificate is required at the time <strong>of</strong><br />

registration.<br />

Volunteer coaches are needed!!! Any individual who<br />

coaches a <strong>Wentzville</strong> Parks & Recreation youth sports team<br />

<strong>The</strong> memories will last a lifetime if you attend this special evening. <strong>The</strong> night will consist <strong>of</strong> dinner,<br />

dancing, games, a craft, and more. Each couple will receive a complimentary 5x7 photo to<br />

<strong>Wentzville</strong> Parks and Recreation is <strong>of</strong>fering a trivia night for adults 21 and older. Trivia night will<br />

consist <strong>of</strong> ten rounds with ten questions in each round. “Mulligans” will be available for each table<br />

to purchase. A light snack and beverages will be provided. Register as a team <strong>of</strong> eight people and<br />

don’t forget to register early because space is limited!<br />

Hippity Hop! <strong>The</strong> Easter Bunny has been busy filling thousands <strong>of</strong> eggs with candy and prizes for<br />

the annual aster EGGstravaganza. Some eggs will contain a slip <strong>of</strong> paper for prizes. Don’t forget<br />

your basket to collect all your goodies. Children will be grouped according to their age. Come early<br />

and enjoy face painters and clowns. Registration will be taken in advance. Each child registered will<br />

receive a ticket for hunting. You must have your ticket on the day <strong>of</strong> the hunt. don't miss this<br />

beginning May 1 at <strong>City</strong> Hall, Progress Park or the Utility Service Center for<br />

All pets must have a responsible adult leashed at all times.<br />

Bark for bones when all kinds <strong>of</strong> dog treats and bones will be hidden for our furry friends. Your dog<br />

will be allowed to try to find as many goodies as possible. Dogs must remain on leashes at all<br />

times. Don’t forget to bring a basket to put your treats in! After the hunting ends, each dog will<br />

receive a “doggie bag” to take home with them and we will draw for door prizes. Dogs and their<br />

owners may roam around in the park after the event and take advantage <strong>of</strong> our trail, which is a<br />

little over 1-mile in length and also loops around the lake.<br />

Want to have fun while earning a little extra cash this summer? If so, then be<br />

sure to attend <strong>Wentzville</strong> Parks and Recreation Department’s Job Fair on Thursday,<br />

March 7, from 2:00-7:00p.m. at Progress Park. Applications will be accepted<br />

for temporary summer positions for lifeguards, concessionaires, day camp<br />

counselors, and umpires. Applicants should be prepared to be interviewed at<br />

that time, highly motivated, and age 16 or older by March 6, 2013. Starting pay<br />

varies depending on position and experience.<br />

Applications can be filled out in advance by downloading the form from the<br />

<strong>City</strong>’s Web site at www.wentzvillemo.org/employment-opportunities.aspx, or applications<br />

will be available to complete at the job fair. No advance appointments<br />

will be provided.<br />
