<strong>Wentzville</strong> Residents Only<br />
WE P.L.A.Y Scholarship<br />
program is an acronym for<br />
<strong>Wentzville</strong> Providing Leisure<br />
Assistance for Youth, a<br />
program designed to provide<br />
youth access to the recreation<br />
and leisure activities <strong>of</strong> their<br />
choice, regardless <strong>of</strong> the ability<br />
<strong>of</strong> their family to pay.<br />
Who is eligible?<br />
<strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Wentzville</strong> residents<br />
who are experiencing financial<br />
difficulty or who are in a<br />
unique, hardship situation may<br />
apply.<br />
How does the program<br />
work?<br />
Children residing within the<br />
<strong>City</strong> limits and qualify through<br />
the established guidelines <strong>of</strong><br />
free lunch program utilized by<br />
the <strong>Wentzville</strong> School District<br />
are eligible to apply. Children<br />
who do not receive the<br />
reduced or free lunch program<br />
may still qualify and are<br />
encouraged to apply if<br />
assistance is needed. Children<br />
ages 17 and under are eligible<br />
to receive 1 program<br />
scholarship per program<br />
brochure with a maximum <strong>of</strong><br />
three per year.<br />

TIPS AND REMINDERS<br />
Money saving tip for<br />
residents—Any non-member<br />
resident who wishes to use the<br />
recreation facilities at the<br />
resident rate will want to<br />
purchase a Resident Photo ID<br />
card for $5. At the time <strong>of</strong><br />
purchase, the resident will<br />
have one time free entry into<br />
the facilities. You must bring<br />
pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> residency such as;<br />
personal property tax receipt,<br />
or city water/sewer bill. <strong>The</strong><br />
Resident card is valid for two<br />
years.<br />

Less than 10% <strong>of</strong> kids today report playing outside regularly while 40% <strong>of</strong> their parents played outside<br />
frequently in their youth. Take the kids out for an afternoon in Progress Park to enjoy the pool,<br />
playground and ballfield.<br />

Volunteer Program<br />
Get involved in your community AND meet lots<br />
<strong>of</strong> new people! <strong>The</strong> volunteer program currently<br />
consists <strong>of</strong> individuals who have donated thousands<br />
<strong>of</strong> hours <strong>of</strong> their time to help improve the<br />
quality <strong>of</strong> the <strong>programs</strong> <strong>of</strong>fered at the Parks and<br />
Recreation Department. Volunteers are asked<br />
to commit a minimum <strong>of</strong> 25 hours <strong>of</strong> service per<br />
year. ―Park Bucks‖ are issued for time which<br />
can then be used to register for any program<br />
where pre-registration is required, annual memberships,<br />
or our volunteers are welcome to donate<br />
their park bucks to a child who could use<br />
them. In addition, each volunteer will receive a<br />
Volunteer Staff shirt. Volunteers work a wide<br />
range <strong>of</strong> events including the Easter Egg Hunt,<br />
Halloween Happenings, July 4 th Celebration,<br />
Summer Concert Series, Movie in the Park, Holiday<br />
Night Lights, Senior Dinner & Dances and<br />

Refund Policy<br />
Refund requests may be made over the phone, e-mail (parkinfo@wentzvillemo.org), or in person<br />
Monday-Friday from 8:00am–5:00pm. Refunds will be granted for the following cases:<br />
1. A full refund will be made if a program is cancelled, except online registrations where an online<br />
processing fee occurs.<br />
2. If the participant withdraws from the program (EXCLUDING ADULT LEAGUES) before the first class,<br />
the department must receive a written request and then a full refund will be given, less a $10<br />
administrative fee.<br />
3. If the participant withdraws from the program after the first class, the department requires a<br />
written request and then a pro-rated refund will be given less a $10 administrative fee.<br />
4. If the participant becomes ill or injured and must withdraw from the program, a doctor’s written<br />
excuse is required and a refund will be issued on a pro-rated basis, less a $10 administrative fee.<br />
5. If the participant moves out <strong>of</strong> the area, a refund will be issued on a pro-rated basis, less a $10<br />
administrative fee.<br />
6. All youth league refunds will be less the cost <strong>of</strong> uniforms.<br />
7. No refunds will be issued after the program is half over.<br />
8. No refunds will be issued for adult leagues after the registration deadline.<br />
9. <strong>The</strong>re will be an administrative fee assessed for all rental cancellations.<br />

Come join the F.R.O.G.S (Friendly, Reliable, Outstanding, Genuine, Summer Fun!) at Camp <strong>Wentzville</strong><br />
this summer! This fun-filled day camp is designed for children ages 6-12 years old. Camp meets from<br />
9am-4pm, Monday-Friday. Campers will swim almost daily and participate in a wide variety <strong>of</strong> other<br />
activities including, but not limited to games, arts & crafts, field trips, cooking and science activities, and<br />
much more. Every day is structured with fun, safe and exciting lesson plans! Many campers have so<br />
much fun they don’t want the day to end. Register early…this program will fill fast. In order to register<br />
you must present a birth certificate at registration to verify age.<br />

Learn To Swim at Progress Park<br />
Review the master skills list to determine where your child should be placed. If your child participated in<br />
our swim lessons last year, he/she should begin the year in the level above the last completed class. If<br />
you are unsure where your child should be placed… don’t worry! Instructors will be able to determine if<br />
adjustments should be made to placement <strong>of</strong> participants. Each session is two weeks long and meets<br />
Monday–Thursday. Friday and Saturday are possible make-up days due to inclement weather. Please<br />

This program will educate parents and children about the safety<br />
aspects <strong>of</strong> riding a bicycle on the streets and roads. This program<br />
will include bicycle safety inspections, tune-ups, helmet fittings,<br />
and information about the ―rules <strong>of</strong> the road‖. <strong>The</strong>re will also be a<br />
chalked street course including ―safety town‖ to show the children<br />

<strong>The</strong> Hill <strong>of</strong> Thrills Soapbox Race is a community event featuring cars donated by businesses and<br />
organizations and racers randomly placed in the cars. This race isn’t fueled by gas or electronics – it’s<br />
simply gravity as the racers are competing against the clock! Racers must be between 4 feet and 5<br />
feet tall and weigh between 55 and 120 pounds (height and weight restrictions are due to the<br />
construction <strong>of</strong> the car) and fit comfortably in the car. Maximum <strong>of</strong> 200 racers accepted, so register<br />
early! Child must be present at the time <strong>of</strong> registration, no mail in registrations accepted.<br />

celebration <strong>of</strong> the town's history and railroad heritage. This<br />
festival is reminiscent <strong>of</strong> old time fairs and street festivals that<br />
were held in many downtown areas. We are continually working on new events<br />
and ideas to increase attendance and provide an event that will be fun for<br />
