Wentzville Residents Only 

WE P.L.A.Y Scholarship 

program is an acronym for 

Wentzville Providing Leisure 

Assistance for Youth, a 

program designed to provide 

youth access to the recreation 

and leisure activities of their 

choice, regardless of the ability 

of their family to pay. 

Who is eligible? 

City of Wentzville residents 

who are experiencing financial 

difficulty or who are in a 

unique, hardship situation may 

apply. 

How does the program 

work? 

Children residing within the 

City limits and qualify through 

the established guidelines of 

free lunch program utilized by 

the Wentzville School District 

are eligible to apply. Children 

who do not receive the 

reduced or free lunch program 

may still qualify and are 

encouraged to apply if 

assistance is needed. Children 

ages 17 and under are eligible 

to receive 1 program 

scholarship per program 

brochure with a maximum of 

three per year.

TIPS AND REMINDERS 

Money saving tip for 

residents—Any non-member 

resident who wishes to use the 

recreation facilities at the 

resident rate will want to 

purchase a Resident Photo ID 

card for $5. At the time of 

purchase, the resident will 

have one time free entry into 

the facilities. You must bring 

proof of residency such as; 

personal property tax receipt, 

or city water/sewer bill. The 

Resident card is valid for two 

years.

Less than 10% of kids today report playing outside regularly while 40% of their parents played outside 

frequently in their youth. Take the kids out for an afternoon in Progress Park to enjoy the pool, 

playground and ballfield. 



Volunteer Program 

Get involved in your community AND meet lots 

of new people! The volunteer program currently 

consists of individuals who have donated thousands 

of hours of their time to help improve the 

quality of the programs offered at the Parks and 

Recreation Department. Volunteers are asked 

to commit a minimum of 25 hours of service per 

year. ―Park Bucks‖ are issued for time which 

can then be used to register for any program 

where pre-registration is required, annual memberships, 

or our volunteers are welcome to donate 

their park bucks to a child who could use 

them. In addition, each volunteer will receive a 

Volunteer Staff shirt. Volunteers work a wide 

range of events including the Easter Egg Hunt, 

Halloween Happenings, July 4 th Celebration, 

Summer Concert Series, Movie in the Park, Holiday 

Night Lights, Senior Dinner & Dances and

Friends of the Wentzville parks is a 501(c)3, non

Refund Policy 

Refund requests may be made over the phone, e-mail (parkinfo@wentzvillemo.org), or in person 

Monday-Friday from 8:00am–5:00pm. Refunds will be granted for the following cases: 

1. A full refund will be made if a program is cancelled, except online registrations where an online 

processing fee occurs. 

2. If the participant withdraws from the program (EXCLUDING ADULT LEAGUES) before the first class, 

the department must receive a written request and then a full refund will be given, less a $10 

administrative fee. 

3. If the participant withdraws from the program after the first class, the department requires a 

written request and then a pro-rated refund will be given less a $10 administrative fee. 

4. If the participant becomes ill or injured and must withdraw from the program, a doctor’s written 

excuse is required and a refund will be issued on a pro-rated basis, less a $10 administrative fee. 

5. If the participant moves out of the area, a refund will be issued on a pro-rated basis, less a $10 

administrative fee. 

6. All youth league refunds will be less the cost of uniforms. 

7. No refunds will be issued after the program is half over. 

8. No refunds will be issued for adult leagues after the registration deadline. 

9. There will be an administrative fee assessed for all rental cancellations. 


PROJECT PARKS UPDATE 

 

 

 

The Parks Project (Peruque Valley Park and Heartland Park), will be bid as one project and 

will include the regional detention pond at Heartland Park. 

The City and School District are in discussion regarding the adjacent property to facilitate 

construction of the Aquatic Center Project. 

Reviews, bidding schedule and contractor award time frames comply with the City’s 

Purchasing Policy.

Course work includes water safety, leadership skills, basic work

meet Monday – Thursday for two weeks. This course is designed

exploring the Olympic sports of track and field, basketball, 

volleyball, and tennis with high-energy activities, games and 

competitions. Don't worry - you don't need to be an Olympiccaliber 

athlete. Club JumpBunch is all about having fun! Club 

JumpBunch builds interest in sports and helps improve balance, 

coordination, gross motor skills and lets you try different sports 

and activities each week!

CAMP 

The Mad Science Secret Agent camp is a fun journey into the world 

of detection, spy science and forensics. Over the course of 5 days, 

campers will experience all kinds of cool science and features ten

my! Connect the dots using science to help solve a crime in this 

hands-on investigation of the science of sleuthing. 

Spy Academy – Look out 007!-The Mad Science spy academy 

is in session! From decoding messages to metal detectors and 

night vision, children will have the opportunity to check out spy 

equipment and even create their own edible messages!

Balloonatics Camp 


Calling all Balloonatics! Every day an exciting balloon bash! 

Balloonatic campers learn to create over 20 balloon animals, spin 

out with UFO balloons and make a balloon helicopter that really 

flies! Each day campers take home a different novelty balloon – 

racecar balloons, rocket balloons, and more! Camp concludes with 

the Balloonatics showing off their skills in a balloon twist jam for 

their families. Come join the fun in this unique, creative camp!

Theatre is a fun way to jump in someone else’s shoes and bring the 

characters to life for an audience. There are many different types 

of theatre along with many different components. Participants will

games and activities to work on voice projection, stage presence, 

confidence, and useful skills.

Diamonds! Add in your head faster 

than a calculator! Learn these and 

many other magic tricks while 

honing your math skills. The tricks 

for this camp are math-based!

cards, paper, and special magic 

props you’ll take home. The 

students put on a show for their 

families the last day. Animal 

balloons, clown skits, and team 

building activities round out this

SWIM LESSONS 

Learn To Swim at Progress Park 

Review the master skills list to determine where your child should be placed. If your child participated in 

our swim lessons last year, he/she should begin the year in the level above the last completed class. If 

you are unsure where your child should be placed… don’t worry! Instructors will be able to determine if 

adjustments should be made to placement of participants. Each session is two weeks long and meets 

Monday–Thursday. Friday and Saturday are possible make-up days due to inclement weather. Please 

don’t forget to call our rain out hotline in case of inclement weather. The hotline is updated a half hour

improve your skills, this camp is the place for you! This camp gives players an opportunity to work 

in small competitive groups while receiving personal instruction. Past alumni of the Elite Football 

Academy include, Blaine Gabbert, Tyler Gabbert, Wes Kemp and Sheldon Richardson. Do not miss 

this great opportunity to take your game to the next level! Football cleats are allowed but not

Bicycle Safety 


This program will educate parents and children about the safety 

aspects of riding a bicycle on the streets and roads. This program 

will include bicycle safety inspections, tune-ups, helmet fittings, 

and information about the ―rules of the road‖. There will also be a 

chalked street course including ―safety town‖ to show the children 

when, and how to use the rules. This is a very fun and 

educational program that will help young cyclists be 

knowledgeable of cycling safety.

The Hill of Thrills Soapbox Race is a community event featuring cars donated by businesses and 

organizations and racers randomly placed in the cars. This race isn’t fueled by gas or electronics – it’s 

simply gravity as the racers are competing against the clock! Racers must be between 4 feet and 5 

feet tall and weigh between 55 and 120 pounds (height and weight restrictions are due to the 

construction of the car) and fit comfortably in the car. Maximum of 200 racers accepted, so register 

early! Child must be present at the time of registration, no mail in registrations accepted. 

This year’s race will feature a special opening ceremony for U.S. Veterans.

Progress park center rental 

FACILITIES AND RENTALS 

Progress Park Center is a beautiful banquet facility. The facility is ideal for special occasions including 

weddings, family reunions, and additional events. The facility includes a full kitchen, walk-in cooler, 

and a 43’ x 25’ wood dance floor. The hall can accommodate seating for up to 225 people. Tables 

and chairs and room set-up are included in the price. The hall can be rented until midnight.

or end of school party at Progress Park pool. The pool is available for private rentals from May 26 

through August 26, 2012 on Saturdays or Sundays only after our public swim hours. Reservations 

require two week in advance notice.

individuals. Pavilions are available for full day 

rentals (8am-10pm) at Progress Park, Fireman’s

acre stocked lake, two picnic shelters with BBQ pits, 

playground, sand volleyball courts, horseshoe pits,

Wabash Days Festival 

Looking for some end of summer fun? You won't want to miss 

this event! Held in downtown Wentzville on West Allen, Linn 

and Main Streets. The festival features live musical 

entertainment, live street performances and demonstrations, 

carnival rides and games, arts and craft booths, food booths 

and much, much more! Wabash Days, now in its 9th year, is a 

celebration of the town's history and railroad heritage. This 

festival is reminiscent of old time fairs and street festivals that 

were held in many downtown areas. We are continually working on new events 

and ideas to increase attendance and provide an event that will be fun for 

everyone!
