119 adults graduate from Capital Region BOCES Practical Nursing program
Courses answer demand for healthcare pros by offering part-time, full-day study options
The Capital Region BOCES Career & Technical School is answering the pressing need for healthcare professionals,
graduating 119 adults from its Practical Nursing program at a June 22 ceremony at Proctors.
The program encompasses 1,100 hours of classroom and clinical instruction, and upon completion, students are
eligible to take the National Council Licensure exam and apply for state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
The Practical Nursing program also prepares students to further their nursing education.
The graduated students studied either full-time for 10 months or part-time for 18 months, many while holding down
jobs and caring for families. They attended class at the Capital Region BOCES Health Careers Center on New
Karner Road, across from the Career & Technical School in Colonie, and also learned through hands-on, supervised
clinical experiences at local health care facilities.

Practical Nursing is one of more than 40 programs of study offered by the Capital Region BOCES Career &
Technical School, which serves adult and high school students living in Albany, Schoharie, Schenectady and
southern Saratoga counties. The school is run by the Capital Region Board of Cooperative Educational Services
