Career Cruising with Eyer Students
Students in sixth, seventh and eighth grade are again using Career Cruising , an
interactive web-based career exploration website. Since the grade- level counselor
facilitates this program, portions of the program are done each year, resulting in an
online portfolio for each student.
The Career Cruising Program includes detailed career profiles, multimedia interviews,
information about various post- secondary schools and training opportunities,
an electronic portfolio, self-assessments and much more. As students complete the
activities, they are able to save their individual results into a portfolio. The program is
continued at Emmaus High School, where it becomes part of each student’s graduation
requirement. Since Career Cruising is web-based, the site can be explored as
long as you have internet access. Just go to www.careercruising.com and enter Eyer
Middle School’s username (eyer) and password (middle). Click on “start career cruising”
to enter the site. Students can enter the site and access their portfolios at any
time using their specific username and passwords. So set sail and explore the world
of careers!
Counselor’s Corner
In addition to CTY info :
Counselors are busy welcoming new students to Eyer. This happens in the form of lunch bunches or 9 th
period meetings which include introductions, icebreakers and a question and answer session.
Here is a great analogy to use with teen and tweens:
How to put out fires
STOP DROP ROLL
Reacting to stupid stuff your irritation and anger get on with your life
Quote:
“ Giving up on your goal because of one setback is like slashing your other three tires because you
got a flat.”
