Ale has been a feature of life at our home 

since at least as far back as 1086. We 

know this because the Great Abbey's 

'cerevisiarii' or ale brewers are 

mentioned in the Domesday Book. 

But we've taken the traditional craft of 

brewing to new heights, producing what 

is arguably the finest range of cask ales 

in the country. 

ABBOT ALE • 5.0% 

Abbot is an irresistible ale with 

masses of fruit characters, a malty 

richness and superb hop balance. It 

is brewed longer to a unique recipe, 

which makes it the full-flavoured, 

smooth and mature beer it is today. 

IPA • 3.6% 

Crafted with locally sourced, 100% 

english ingredients from the heart 

of suffolk. the characteristic hoppy 

taste & aroma from the use of 

challenger & first gold hops, which 

are combined with pale & crystal 

malts creates this perfectly balanced, 

premium quality beer. 

MORLANDS 

ORIGINAL • 4.0% 

Has a fresh floral hop aroma from 

golding hops with a strong character. 

Blonde• 3.8% 

A light and hoppy blonde beer made 

using lager malt and Saaz hops, for a refreshing 

finish. 

Slumbering Monk • 4.5% 

A malty, nutty copper coloured 

ale with hints of caramel to and 

light bit-terness. 

Pale Ale • 4.1% 

Brewed with pure mineral water, this 

very English Pale Ale is crisp and fresh 

upfront, with a pleas-ant bitter aftertaste.

The Joule’s Red Cross is the 6th oldest 

trade mark in the world, and after 

resurrecting the brand in 2010, we 

believe in natural brewing. As successors 

to the legendary trademark, our vision is

BITTER • 3.8% 

Far and away Black Sheep's best selling cask beer, 

a well hopped, light golden best bitter with a 

distinctive, dry refreshing tast, to be enjoyed in 

true Black Sheep style through a rich creamy head. 

EVERARDS 

TIGER • 4.2% 

Tiger Best Bitter is a classic example of getting 

the perfect balance between sweetness and bitterness. 

Crystal malt gives the beer its rounded toffee character. 

MCMULLENS 

AK • 3.7% 

Our award-winning bitter uses a carefully balanced 

mixture of pale ale and chocolate malts to give a soft 

malty taste, while WGV hops give a light fragrant 

aroma and clean finish. A popular and refreshing 

easy-drinking bitter. 

COUNTRY BITTER • 4.3% 

The recipe for Country's distinct fruity taste is 

a testament to this when we carefully mix the 

Progress, Brambling Cross and English Fuggle hops. 

The addition of crystal malt to the pale ale malt 

creates a light colour and adds a nutty taste. 

Best bitter drinkers will really enjoy this beautifully 

balanced complex ale. 

GRAYS 

CELTIC GOLD • 4.0% 

A golden bitter with a pleasant balance of hops 

& malt. Hops continue from the taste to a smooth 

bitter finish. 

ENGLAND'S PRIDE • 4.5% 

A dark brew combining chocolate and crystal malts 

to give a luscious toffee, malty flavour with hop and 

bitterness an the aftertaste. 

GRAYS BITTER • 3.8% 

Drinking beauty of a beer, with hoppy flavours 

and a clean finish.

LANDLORD • 4.3% 

A classic strong plae ale, Landlord has won more 

awards nationally than any other beer. 

This includes three times as Champion at the 

Brewers International Exhibition. 

WELLS/ YOUNGS 

BOMBARDIER • 4.1% 

Bombardier is an iconic real beer loaded with 

distinct English brilliance. It's the epitome of 

impeccable taste and great character. The rich, 

full-bodied nectar is a lingering reward - English, 

ever reliable and damned tasty. 

INBEV 

DRAUGHT BASS • 4.4% 

A classic ale with a malty, fruity, nutty aroma 

and a complex, satisfying flavour. 

JENNINGS 

CUMBERLAND • 4.0% 

A light , creamy, hoppy beer with a dry aftertaste. 

ST. AUSTELL 

TRIBUTE • 4.2% 

Tribute is a magnificent example of a bronze 

coloured English bitter, with a rich aroma 

of biscuity malt and tart citrus fruit from the 

Willamette hops. Juicy malt, hop resins and tangy 

fruit coat the tongue, while the finish is long 

and lingering, with a fine balance between malt, 

hops and fruit, finally becoming dry and bitter. 

PROPER JOB • 4.5% 

A powerfully hopped golden bitter that 

explodes with citrus grapefruit flavours. 

MARSTONS 

PEDIGREE • 4.5% 

Marston's Pedigree is still brewed the best way 

known to Master Brewer's using Burton well water, 

the unions system and with a passion for the result.

BLUE MONKEY 

B.G. SIPS • 4.0% 

A pale and intensely hoppy beer. Enticing tropical fruit 

aromas, finished with a good level of thirst quenching, 

almost peppery bitterness. 

SANCTUARY • 4.1% 

A traditional light copper coloured ale, but with a 

hoppy twist. Sanctuary is a great choice as a regular 

session beer as it has a moderate ABV and traditional 

colour, but is spiced up with a generous and unusual 

combination of German and American hops. 

CASTLE ROCK 

HARVEST PALE • 3.8% 

Harvest Pale is brewed with a gently-kilned malt, 

and an during the brewing process gives this 3.8% 

alc pale beer exceptionalaromatic blend of American 

hops added poise. Its distinct hop flavour leads to a 

crisp finish. Harvest Pale has firmly established itself 

as Castle Rock’s Flagship Beer. SIBA National. 

CONWY 

CELEBRATION ALE • 4.2% 

A copper coloured bitter with a well balanced 

blend of malt & hops. An initial rich, maltymouth 

feel is rounded off by orangey/zesty hops and a 

touch of spice. 

CLOGWYN GOLD • 3.6% 

A light, quaffable golden ale with plenty of hop 

aroma and a long bitter finish. A very tasty beer 

for its strength. 

WELSH PRIDE • 4.5% 

Amber in colour,with an explosion of hops. 

The elderflower aromas are impressive with 

sweetish malt & more hops coming through in 

a satisfying finish. 

FULLERS BREWERY 

LONDON PRIDE • 4.1% 

One of our original recipes, amber coloured best 

bitter with copious amounts of US Cascade hops. 

Wonderfully aromatic floral nose balanced by a 

gentle bitterness with a hint of sweetness. No 

wonder this beer has won the most awards of all 

the beers in our range. 

GRAYS 

CHAMPION • 5.1% 

A strong dark brown ale with complex balance of 

fruit, malt and roast flavours through to the finish. 

HOLDENS 

GOLDEN GLOW • 4.4% 

An 18ct gold, golden ale with subtle yet fragrant 

hop aromas, a moreish gentle sweetness and a 

almost citrus like pleasant bitter finish. Brewed 

using the finest English Maris Otter malts and 

choicest Fuggles, Golden Glow is a thirst 

quenchingly refreshing beer. 

HOPBACK 

CROP CIRCLE • 4.2% 

A very clean, flaxen-coloured beer with wonderful 

thirst-quenching properties. The subtle blend of 

aroma and bittering hops give a crispness on the 

tongue which is delicately fruity, giving way to 

some dryness. The inclusion of flaked maize in the 

grist subtlely hints at crisp corn flavours. 

SUMMER LIGHTNING • 5.0% 

A trendsetter in the brewing industry; the original 

Summer ale brewed all year round. An extremely 

pleasant bitter, straw coloured beer with a terrific 

fresh, hoppy aroma. This, coupled with an intense 

bitterness, leads to an excellent long, dry finish. 

KELHAM ISLAND 

EASY RIDER • 4.3% 

Easy Rider is a subtle, easy drinking premium 

strength pale ale. The initial crisp bitterness gently 

gives way to a lingering fruity aftertaste. Easy Rider 

is brewed using the finest malted English barley, 

together with hand picked hops and water drawn 

from the Pennines. 

PALE RIDER • 5.2% 

A legend of a beer, Champion Beer of Britain 2004, 

much imitated never bettered! A pale ale brewed 

with the finest British maris otter malt and a blend 

of the best hops the USA has to offer. A delightful 

moreish beer where a berry fruit and citrus aroma 

mingles with juicy malt tones. Delicate and sweet 

on a palate complimenting the resounding 

concerto of flavours.

LYMESTONE 

EINSTEIN • 5.0% 

This lingering combination of pale maris otter 

malts and choice german hops may make you 

pause for thought. 

STONECUTTER • 3.7% 

From the very first draught, this pale hoppy ale 

will slake your thirst. A superb summer beer. 

SALOPIAN 

ORACLE • 4.0% 

The intention of the hop character is to be 

pronounced but not all encompassing, dry 

but not overtly bitter and a tiny hint of sweetness 

to add body. 

SHROPSHIRE GOLD • 3.8% 

Golden, with a flora aroma and a full hoppy 

flavour that is balanced by a crisp dry maltiness 

and a rich finish. 

OAKHAM 

INFERNO • 4.0% 

This light, igniting ale flickers complex fruits across 

your tongue, leaving a dry, fruity, bitter finish, 

smothering your thirst. 

JHB • 3.8% 

A golden beer whose aroma is dominated by hops 

that give characteristic citrus notes. Hops and fruit 

on the palate are balanced by malt and a bitter base. 

Dry hoppy finish with soft fruit flavours. 

THORNBRIDGE 

BROTHER RABBIT • 4.0% 

Lemon zest in colour with a clean, hoppy aroma. 

A resinous finish and some bitterness. 

JAIPUR • 5.9% 

A citrus dominated India Pale Ale, its immediate 

impression is soft and smooth yet builds to a 

crescendo of massive hoppiness accentuated by 

honey. An enduring, bitter finish. 

PURPLE MOOSE 

GLASLYN • 4.2% 

A golden coloured fruity best bitter with a well 

balanced hoppy finish. 

RUDGATE 

RUBY MILD • 4.4% 

Nutty rich ruby ale, stronger than usual 

for a mild ale. 

SA BRAINS 

BRAINS REVERAND JAMES • 4.5% 

Brewed to a traditional recipe & has been described 

as having a flavour not commonly available these 

days. Full bodied and warming. rich in palate, spicy 

& aromatic with a deeply satisfying finish. 

TIMOTHY TAYLORS 

GOLDEN BEST • 3.5% 

The last of the true pennine light milds, this amber 

coloured beer makes a refreshing sesonal ale. 

Smooth and rich flavour. 

WADWORTH 

6X • 4.3% 

A delightful copper coloured beer with a malty fruity 

nose and a restrained hop character. Full bodied and 

distincitve with a lingering malty finish. 

WELLS/ YOUNGS 

COURAGE DIRECTORS • 4.8% 

Full bodied with a clean, bitter taste, balanced 

with a sweet burnt, malty and fruity notes with 

a distinctive dry-hop aroma and flavour.

Norman Sinclair, graduate of RGIT, 

is an acclaimed Highland 

restaurateur who more recently 

created a company which is the 

largest independent brewing 

operation in Scotland. 

DARK ISLAND • 4.6% 

Dark Island is an iconic beer: a 

standard-bearer for traditional 

Scottish ales. In cask, this beer has 

twice won CAMRA’s Champion 

Beer of Scotland. 

RED MACGREGOR • 4.0% 

Red Macgregor is a unique beer: 

delicate and sophisticated yet the 

robust cask conditioned version of 

this beer was the first Scottish beer 

to win the BIIA World Cask Beer 

Gold Medal. 

E.S.B. • 5.5% 

With three CAMRA Beer of the Year 

awards, two World Champion Beer 

awards, and numerous other gold 

medals to speak of, ESB is, quite 

simply, the Champion Ale. 

CHISWICK • 3.5% 

Chiswick Bitter is Fuller's popular 

session strength ale , has won the 

prestigious CAMRA Great British 

Beer Festival, Beer of the Year award, 

in 1989, flowery and fresh, well hopped. 

Fullers 

Fuller, Smith and Turner PLC is an 

independent traditional family 

brewer founded in 1845 and remains 

on its original site at the Griffin 

Brewery in Chiswick, London. The 

company has two trading divisions – 

Fuller’s Inns and The Fuller’s Beer 

Company.

Holdens 

It was in 1898 with the marriage of Edwin Holden 

to Lucy Blanche Round that the name became 

linked to the licensed trade. Lucy's father, who 

had a long-established reputation in the trade, 

persuaded them to take the tenancy 

of a public house. 

For the next seventeen years, they were tenants 

in various pubs, as well as being active members 

of the local community. 

Black Country 

Bitter • 3.9% 

An impressive golden straw 

coloured medium bodied ale, 

brewed using the finest English 

Maris Otter malts and choicest 

Fuggles giving a distinctive and 

assertive hop character, balanced 

with a fruity palate and a malty 

finish. Dangerously drinkable. 

SPECIAL • 5.1% 

A sweet, malty, full-bodied amber 

ale with hops to balance in the taste 

and in the good, bittersweet finish. 

OTTER ALE• 4.5% 

Tropical fruit with an interplay 

between the biscuity malt and the 

fruitiness - superbly refreshing, fruity 

& summery. Dry and bittersweet finish. 

OTTER AMBER • 4.0% 

Citrus fruit balanced with a well-crafted 

sense of biscuity maltiness - most 

refreshing. A good session beer. 

OTTER BITTER • 3.6% 

Malt toffee and buscuit flavour nestle 

with the complex combination of three 

aroma hops while the citrusy Amarillo 

cuts though the alcohol sweetness. 

A dry and mellow finish. 

BRIGHT• 4.3% 

mocha coffee, bitter chocolate, 

roasted malt and in the background 

the sweetness of the port; there’s also 

a brief flash mid-palate of hoppy 

pepperiness and a fruitiness similar 

to that of currants (vinous. Dry, 

malty finish. 

Otter 

We often get asked how or why we got into 

brewing. Call it destiny or 'beer's in the blood'. 

However it happened, it has allowed the whole 

family to play a role in building a brewery that 

reflects and respects the heritage of good beer 

production. 

Generations of experience have taught us that 

consistently good beer and service make for a 

brewery worth remembering. That is fundamental 

to everything that we do.

BEARTOWN 

KODIAK GOLD • 4.0% 

Well balanced, straw coloured and very drinkable. 

With citrus fruit and hops aroma, leading to a 

sharp bitter, clean aftertaste. 

TETLEY 

CASK BITTER • 3.8% 

A full-bodied roasted malt flavour with just a hint 

of caramel. Tetley’s Cask also has a smooth hop 

character and bitterness derived from English hops. 

GREENE KING 

OLD SPECKLED HEN • 4.5% 

Old Speckled Hen has a full, smooth flavour and is 

very easy to drink. Its rich amber colour and superb 

fruity aromas are complemented by a delicious 

blend of malty tastes. Toffee and malt combine 

with bitterness on the back of the tongue to give a 

balanced sweetness, followed by a refreshingly 

dry finish. 

RUDDLES COUNTY • 4.3% 

Originally from England's smallest county – 

Rutland – Ruddles County is an English ale with 

a distinctive flavour of dark toffee and caramel 

combined with a crisp bitterness derived from 

using rare Bramling Cross hops. 

HARVIESTOUN 

BITTER & TWISTED • 3.8% 

A refreshing blonde beer with a hoppy profile 

and the finish of lemon. Judiciously hopped with 

Hersbrucker and Challenger and late hopped with 

Styrian Golding.

A crisp cask-conditioned lager beer with the fresh 

taste of grapefruit. Fermented at very low 

temperature with a lager yeast and delicately 

hopped with Hersbrucker. 

SHARPS 

DOOM BAR • 4.0% 

The aroma of Doom Bar combines an accomplished 

balanced resinous hop, inviting sweet malt and 

delicate roasted note feel. 

SHEPHERDS NEAME 

SPITFIRE • 4.2% 

The glowing amber of this premium Kentish ale has 

aromas of tangy malt, soft raisins and sweet oranges.

11°C - 12°C

24 Hours after delivery 

Vent the Barrel to reduce 

the CO2 in the Ale.

Roll the barrel. 

This mixes the 

finings so they will 

settle the beer evenly.

Waggle the peg to 

slowly release pressure.

Check the aroma. 

Stillaging. 

Let the barrel stand for 

24 Hours after delivery 

to allow the Ale to chill 

down to the cellar 

temperature. 3. 

Tap the Barrel.

Check the taste. 

Clean the keystone. 

This ensures there are 

no contaminents that 

can affect the beer.

tap, insert a soft peg 

and allow keg to 

vent for 48 Hours.
