Boat Show to feature
parade and oyster fair
REEDVILLE––The eighth
annual Antique & Classic
Boat Show, sponsored by
the Reedville Fishermen’s
Museum and the Tidewater
Chapter of the Antique and
Classic Boat Society will be
held September 9 through 11.
Most of the boats will
arrive September 9 and
depart September 11. The
major public events will be
held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
September 10 along Main
Street in Reedville.
Highlights will include
boat tours, refreshments, a
nautical flea market, free
water taxis to view boats, an
oyster fair and an old boat
parade.
Classic boats docked on
Cockrell’s Creek behind
homes and businesses on
Main Street can be viewed
by land or by water taxi. A
$5 “Pier Pass” will cover all
show features and museum
admission.
The nautical flea market
will be located at the museum
campus. The parade will
begin at 3 p.m.
The oyster fair, in association
with the Tidewater
Oyster Growers Association
(TOGA), will begin at 9 a.m.
in the Bethany United Methodist
Church fellowship hall,
according to TOGA president
David Turney.
Speakers will address oyster
stock rebuilding efforts in the
Chesapeake Bay, small-scale
commercial production, and
growing your own oysters.
An oyster nursery tour will
be offered at the conclusion
of the discussions.
Oyster seed will be available
on a first come first
served basis and vendors will
offer oyster floats, cages and
related supplies.
