Cerebral palsy is the most common
physical disability in childhood. Caused
by damage to the developing brain,
it can impair walking, cause a lack
of muscle coordination, spasms and
speech difficulty.
Providing services to families affected
by cerebral palsy costs the League
more than $45 million yearly and
while it receives government funding,
community support is vital to making
up the difference.

CEREBRAL Palsy League client Will
Foord celebrated Easter at the Blues
Festival at Byron Bay.
Will, with his mum Melinda and
brother Atticus, stayed in fully
funded wheelchair accessible
accommodation during the festival.
“The accommodation just made
things so much easier, with the rain
that seems to be part of the festival
it was great to come back to a room
rather than a tent,” Melinda said.
Will was clearly excited to be able
to participate in an event that isn’t
normally recognised as being
wheelchair accessible.
“I got to hear some of the best,
hanging out in the massive tent gave
me a chance to get up close to some
really great musicians,” Will said.
Will was the recipient of a Starlight
Foundation wish.
