The target language levels set are:<br />

- B1 for the first foreign language<br />

- A1 for the second.<br />

RECOGNITION <strong>OF</strong> FOREIGN LANGUAGE CERTIFICATES<br />

The Faculty Council recognizes language attainment certificates which<br />

correspond to the language levels established by the Council of Europe.<br />

If the level stated by the foreign language certificate is considered equivalent to<br />

that required by the Faculty, it is automatically recognized on the basis of the<br />

European table (European Framework).<br />

The student concerned may be asked to take a supplementary test to assess<br />

specific language skills required by the degree course that s/he has selected (for<br />

example, translation skills, or theoretical knowledge of syntactic-grammatical<br />

structures).<br />

Recognition of the “Patentino di bilinguismo” (certificate of bilingualism)<br />

of the Province of Bolzano (only for examinations in German)<br />

The skills attested by the Patentino di bilinguismo – translation, comprehension<br />

and oral production – are recognized by the Faculty<br />

The Patentino di bilinguismo B is recognized as equivalent to level B1 and the<br />

Patentino di bilinguismo A to level B2.<br />

The student in possession of the certificate may be asked to take a<br />

supplementary language test.<br />

Recognition of language skills acquired by Erasmus-Socrates students<br />

Examinations taken under the Erasmus-Socrates Programme and which certify<br />

a level of language knowledge corresponding to the ‘European Framework’ are<br />

recognized by the same procedure as used for foreign language certification.<br />

Foreign upper-secondary school qualifications<br />

Students in possession of secondary-school leaving certificates obtained in<br />

foreign countries may gain recognition of C1-level competence in the language<br />

of the country in which they have completed their upper-secondary studies (this<br />
