Top 10 Ways to Spend Your Day
In Mahone Bay
Summer in Mahone Bay is quite simply spectacular. You have picked the perfect place
to enjoy your vacation. Our idyllic scenery, architecture, gardens, shops, restaurants,
artisans and community spirit all come together in a town alive with natural beauty and
summer pleasures.
1. Take a Historic Walking Tour of Mahone Bay from 1754 - 21st century
Mahone Bay is considered one of the most walkable towns in Nova Scotia. Our flat
streets, well maintained sidewalks, gorgeous views of the bay, striking Victorian architecture
and rich heritage earn top marks. This
is the perfect place to enjoy a tour of our historic
houses and buildings. The walking tours, by the
Mahone Bay Founders Society are FREE.
Pick up a brochure of the self-guided tours at
the Settlers Museum or download a PDF from
their website. The kids will love the children’s
walking tour, “ Walk About and Check it Out!”
The Settlers Museum offers a chance to learn
about the history of the area as well as traditional
crafts. It is a community museum featuring exhibits
and collections that highlight the rich history of the town. Open daily 10-4pm from May
23-August 30, 2015. FREE admission and children’s activities.
Jubilee Park, which is home to wooded walking trails,
a duck pond, a children’s playground with picnic tables,
baseball field, outdoor community swimming pool
(open every afternoon and most evenings) and tennis
courts (lessons available). The wooded trails are part
of the Rails to Trails network where you can hike, bike
(bikes are available for rent at Sweet Ride Cycling)
or walk miles of groomed trails. The easiest way
to access the trail is just past the tennis courts on
Hawthorn Hill Rd. There are several points along the
way where you can come back through town.
