Old Rectory and from there it moved N. to a
position opposite the present house. There
are references to a second manor, Pipards,
in the Cl5th based on the.Pipard estate of the
C13th, but an inquisition Elizabeth I,
,decided against its existence as a manor. It
is hoped that detailed study of the Uthwatt
papers', together with a large number of other
deeds, rentals, wills and the two estate maps
-of 1641 and 1678 will help to identify some
of the householders of the deserted house
sites revealed by the recent excavations
(Fig. 17).
Woughtonon the Green
There are few surviving documents for this
parish, apart from the subsidy assessments,
muster returns, etc., common Ao most 'places,
and a handful of late deeds, lsome concerned
with the manor house and its .estate cottages.
There is-a collection of glebe terriers at
Aylesbury and Lincoln, but the total absence
of early maps has made field identification
difficult. An LAtempt is being made to compile
a map from the Enclosure award of 1769
which may then be used for earlier documents.
