UK, London, takes 8 hrs and from USA
it takes 18 hrs, but the moment it lands
at Mumbai Airport, it takes around 3-4
working days for hand over.

the PPP model, which is supposed to
be an efficient way to serve in general
public, has a lacuna in its functionality
and profit sharing in the case of aviation
sector. “The dynamics of the PPP has been
incorrectly interpreted and in the end it
is showing as a monopolistic area where
there is no other way, the trade will bend
accordingly,” he argued.
Pramod Sant from CII (Import Exim
Panel) pointed out the importance of fast
and efficient clearance of air cargo. “The
preference is still given to move cargo
by air rather than by sea because of its
time sensitivity. The money involved in
transferring goods or material via air
cargo is almost 20 times more than the
sea freight,” he said. In his opinion, air
cargo handling can be done smoothly by
making its process simple.
At this meet the trade associations
announced that they would organise a joint
delegation to the Ministry of Commerce, Civil
Aviation and Finance, Government of India
with an appeal to resolve the issues for the
greater interest of the country’s economy.
