BEAUTIFUL SYMPHONION GRANDFATHER'S CLOCK
Style 30 in rich walnut case...
or the musical grandfather's clocks we have handled over the years,
this Style 30 Symphoruon must be rated as one of the alltime finest! It
is simply breathtaking in its ornateness and beauty!
The cabinet is of rich patterned light walnut ornamented with
columns, turnings, and carvings. It measures 7'5" high and will be a
centerpiece in any foyer or livinr. room. The musical movement is by
Symphl.'nion and uses the standard 135/8" Symphl.'nion discs. It has a
double music comb in the diametrically opposed sublime hannonie
arrangement. It plays well and has a bright rich tone.
The Style 30 Symphoruon grandfather's clock is one of the most
imposing and attractive musical clocks ever made by any manufacturer.
It is, needless to say, an addition to your home that will be appreciated
by your entire family.
The instrument is in very choice conditic·n, and apart from some
small woodwork needed, is virtually like new. We have never seen a
finer Style 30! A Style 37 Symphonion clock, a very desirable
instrument but one which is not as ornate as the Style 30, sold for
$3000.00 wholesale slightly over a year ?go.
The collector or dealer will recognize this as an excellent value for
175/8" AMERICAN SYMPHONION MUSIC BOX
An unlovely example!
This instrument, purchased by us as being in "excellent condition",
is hardly that. New top and bottom panels have been made ror the
cabinet, and they don't match (they will match, however, if you start
over and refinish the entire box). The music mechanism has been
altered inasmuch as the original idler arm (the device that holds the disc
tightly against the star wheels) latch must have been missing. While the
replacement works after a fashion, it should be re-done. While you're at
it, adjust the dampers in the star wheel assembly for they really need It.
There are some bright sides to the instrument. With it are 17 discs of
varying quality. The instrument is large (5'4" high, 2'5" wide, 1'8"
deep) and, when rebuilt it should be of good tonal quality. However,
this is not a job for the beginner.
The instrument was, by the way, manufactured in Symphonion's
Asbury Park, N.]. factory in the late 1890's.
OUT loss is your gain (if you are reasonably adept at music box
repairs and have the requisite patience). Sold below cost. 5695.00
