<strong>Action</strong> 7.2 Communicate Understand<strong>in</strong>g and Agreement of Types of Per<strong>for</strong>mance<br />

<strong>Management</strong> Systems<br />

Once <strong>the</strong> concept and understand<strong>in</strong>g of what is meant by Per<strong>for</strong>mance <strong>Management</strong> is agreed, and a range of per<strong>for</strong>mance management systems reviewed with<br />

relevant materials and proposed tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g structures selected, it should <strong>the</strong>n be communicated to all stakeholders at all levels with<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Service</strong>. Effective<br />

communication structures, to enable comprehensive consultation, are essentially aimed at facilitat<strong>in</strong>g consultation with all stakeholders to ensure all legitimate<br />

concerns are aired and addressed. These consultative processes should also be <strong>in</strong>clusive of details relat<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong> essential features of Per<strong>for</strong>mance <strong>Management</strong>;<br />

objectives of <strong>the</strong> system <strong>for</strong> both <strong>the</strong> per<strong>for</strong>mance of <strong>the</strong> Organisation and <strong>the</strong> Individual and ultimately how it helps <strong>the</strong> enhancement of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Service</strong>. It<br />

is considered that <strong>the</strong>re should only be one system of Per<strong>for</strong>mance <strong>Management</strong> operat<strong>in</strong>g on an organisation-wide basis however <strong>the</strong> depth and complexity<br />

may vary at different levels with<strong>in</strong> a given Organisation.<br />
