Sorab Mistry’s strong
participation in IAS over
the years has shown his
enduring passion and
vibrant energy.
IAS YEAR BOOK 2007/08
On 1st April 2008 — IAS, bid a fond farewell
to President, James Yip, as they welcomed
into their ranks the highly respected and
globally renowned Sorab Mistry, Chief
Growth President, McCann Worldgroup, Asia
Pacific, as the new IAS President.
The new President brings with him a wealth of experience both in
the industry and through his generosity of time and involvement with
IAS over the years.
Sorab’s history with IAS goes back to 2002 when he was introduced
as the founding Chairman of the Effie India programme by Ray
Dempsey, then CEO of McCann Erickson Singapore.
He was instrumental in assisting Patrick Mowe to make contact with
the New York American Marketing Association, which led to the
launch of the Effie Singapore; now a highly successful and growing
programme in its fifth year. Sorab later succeeded David Tang as
the Chairman of the Effie Singapore.
IAS then invited Sorab to Chair the IAA Singapore Chapter where
he, David Teo and Patrick Mowe launched the IAA Talent Draft
Programme; a programme designed to encourage Singapore
Universities and Polytechnics to give their best to the Singapore
Advertising Industry.
During the year-long preparation for the launch of the IAA Singapore
Chapter’s Talent Draft Initiative, Sorab was instrumental in engaging
a number of Singapore Ad Industry’s top leaders for the event; his
efforts secured such names as: Palani Pillai, David Tang, Jeffrey Seah,
Stephen Mangham, Neil Montefiore, Sue Oliver and many others.
Sorab and David Teo worked tirelessly to engage the participation
of NUS, SMU, NTU, Nge Ann Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic,
Singapore Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic and Nanyang
Polytechnic. The programme was successfully launched in 2006
thanks to the dedication, time and effort invested.
