the best of the wonderful and informative exhibits the aquarium has to offer. 

After your visit to the Birch Aquarium, you will be able to head into downtown La Jolla for some shopping. 

Upon arrival into the heart of the shopping district in La Jolla, you will have free time to explore, shop, 

and relax on your own! Often referred to as the Jewel of the Pacific Coast, La Jolla Village boasts 

dozens of shops, art galleries, and specialty boutiques. You will be provided with a personalized La Jolla 

Familiarization Map – complete with the “must sees” of the area. Your map will include all of the popular 

shops, galleries and eateries, allowing you to plan how to spend your time best in the Village. 

Pre-Conference Activity: Sailing – Gotta Regatta 

The waters of the San Diego Harbor will provide a perfect place for this Sailing Regatta! It’s all hands on 

deck as each person will be fully interactive as the official “crew” of their vessel vying to push their team in 

the winner’s circle. Every person will have an integral role from preparation of boat leaving and returning 

to dock, hoisting sails to all basic points of sail. Guests will master their “maneuvers” with tack, gibe, 

turning, braking, securing the boat and putting it “to bed.” 

Each team will crew their 27’ sailing yachts with a certified captain. The teams tackle a challenging two-mile 

course over a period of two hours. Captains will brief the crew on strategy, techniques and sailing instructions 

before the race. The Committee Boat and official will handicap the yachts, sound the 10-minute, 5-minute, and 

1-minute warnings and officiate any penalty calls. As each team’s yacht sails over the finish line, the horn will sound 

and times noted - where they will be tallied to the overall score. The final winner will then be announced but all 

of your guests will feel like they have won after enjoying this beautiful day in the San Diego sunshine. In the event 

this activity is cancelled due to low participation, we will notify all registered attendees by August 23, 2013.

Advanced Lending Workshop 

In this day-long interactive workshop session, we’ll discuss approaches to setting up and administering 

complex lending products and processes on the Episys platform. After enrolling in this session, you will 

be asked to submit lending-related topics that you would like to share or discuss with your classmates and 

instructors. We will need your input to make this a valuable and meaningful experience, so please plan 

to bring your expertise and experience to the table along with your questions. This workshop provides

look and usefulness of your output. In the quest for efficient data extraction, you will explore the database 

in detail to enhance your understanding of Episys data. Students should be familiar with Episys functional 

areas and have a basic knowledge of the Episys database structure. Students registered for this course will 

have the opportunity to establish their own criteria for the session assignment ahead of time.

underutilized failover feature. Finally, we will demonstrate multi-host failover and provide a detailed look 

at this new product. We’ll also review what you need to know to implement multi-host failover at your 

credit union. System administrators and other IT professionals are encouraged to attend.

OpCon is an enterprise-wide, real-time business process automation product. Join Symitar and Software 

& Management Associates (SMA) experts for this three-hour tour, which includes an overview of the 

latest OpCon release and a preview of the new Know-It-All training. We’ll devote the rest of the time to 

highlighting some of the tools we have been using at installations, using real examples to illustrate how 

other credit unions are using the product in their environments. You’ll have plenty of opportunity to ask 

questions about new features and use Enterprise Manager in a hands-on environment. This overview will 

benefit operators and IT staff using OpCon who would like to supplement their initial training, and clients 

who have purchased OpCon to automate their IT processes but have not yet installed the product. 




PowerOn Workshop: Take 2 

Last year, the inaugural workshop was a sellout, so we’ve expanded the workshop to two days. Skilled 

PowerOn coders will share their innovative specfiles and cool, creative tips and tricks. Participants 

will engage in interactive presentations about specfiles, learn about sharing ideas in the PowerOn 

Marketplace , and brainstorm ideas with other programmers. This is an interactive workshop for 

programmers with intermediate to advanced PowerOn coding skills. We’ll be sharing snippets of code, 

but this is not a hands-on programming session, so feel free to bring your own laptop or tablet. 

You must submit specfiles in advance for consideration in the presentation. Attendees who present will

No one wants their credit union to make the headlines because of an incidence of workplace violence. 

In this session, guest speaker David A. Smith, founder of Professional Workplace Interaction, Inc., will 

prepare participants to recognize the basic danger signals, enabling them to provide intervention or seek 

assistance before problems escalate. Certainly, prevention through early intervention is the key to avoid 

this type of situation and its aftermath. This session is applicable to everyone concerned for their own and
