One of the core functions of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) is the
Labor Market Information Services.
PESO needs to maintain a database of employment and labor related matters in order to
help the people and other stakeholders to make informed labor market choices.
Major source of data is the National Skills Registry System accomplished by
registered applicants. Other sources include reports from the different employment related
activities conducted by the office and results of surveys and research done by other
agencies.
Cebu City PESO in 2014 has registered more than 5,000 applicants (Cebu City
residents) in the SRS. Monthly LMI reports are submitted to DOLE together with
corresponding supporting documents. The Local Chief Executive and significant others are
also provided copies of the reports.
During budget preparation and executive planning sessions, the labor market
information are also used as inputs to establish trends and formulate appropriate actions
and interventions, where necessary.
For the year 2014, the profile of the 5,202 Cebu City residents registered applicants showed
that female applicants outnumbered the male applicants comprising 54% of the total
male than female in the workforce.
