Erstmals nach Clara Schumanns Gesamtausgabe aus den Jahren 1879–93 erscheinen sämtliche Werke für
Klavier solo in einem Editionsprojekt. In fast zehn Jahren akribischer Arbeit wurden alle Schumanntitel
des G. Henle Verlags einer gewissenhaften Revision unterzogen. Der Schumann-Kenner Ernst Herttrich
stellte jede Ausgabe auf den Prüfstand und widmete sich auch den Werken, die in unserem Katalog bislang
noch fehlten. Das Ergebnis stellen wir mit dieser neuen Sammlung in sechs Bänden vor. Sie lösen die bisherigen
vier Bände (HN 108–HN 115.) ab. Übersichtlich nach Opuszahlen geordnet finden sich hier nicht nur
sämtliche Klavierwerke Schumanns auf aktuellem Forschungsstand, sondern auch informative Begleittexte,
alternative Fassungen und vieles mehr.
For the first time since Clara Schumann’s Complete Edition of 1879–93, all of the works for piano solo are
appearing as one editorial project. Spanning almost ten years of painstaking work, all of the Schumann
titles published by G. Henle Publishers have undergone a careful revision. The Schumann expert Ernst
Herttrich has closely examined each edition and also dedicated himself to those works that were previously
missing from our catalogue. The result is being published in this new collection, comprising six volumes.
They replace the former four volumes (HN 108–HN 115). Arranged clearly according to opus numbers, it
includes not only all of Schumann’s piano works, revised to reflect the latest scholarly findings, but also informative
accompanying texts, alternative versions and much more besides.

Bachs Musik spielte im Hause Schumann eine wichtige Rolle. Seine Fugen wollte er jedoch als
„Charakterstücke, nur in strengerer Form“ verstanden wissen. Die „Clavierstücke in Fughettenform“ op.
126 vereinigen meisterlich die strenge formale Vorgabe mit romantischem Ausdruck.
Bach’s music played an important role in the Schumanns’ house. However, he wanted his fugues to be understood
as “character pieces, just in a stricter form”. The “Piano Pieces in Fughetta Form” op. 126 unite
the strict formal demands with romantic expression in a masterly manner.
