Company at a Glance
Xenolith Medical Ltd is developing medical retention devices for endourologists who wish
to prevent stone migration to the kidney during ureteroscopy procedures. The use of
Xenolith Medical’s devices will minimize procedure invasiveness, lower its risk to the patient
and shorten procedure time. Using innovative concepts, our products will replace current
safety guide wires, stone-retrieval baskets and other stone fragment retrieval devices,
thus simplifying the ureteroscopic procedure and reducing overall procedure costs.
The first device that is being developed by Xenolith Medical, will change the therapeutic
approach for ureteroscopy, allowing endourologists to perform procedures much easier
and faster than the ones performed today.
Technology & Product(s)
The unique approach developed by Xenolith Medical incorporates a very thin and flexible
mesh structure as an integral part of a guidewire. The mesh is collapsed into an overlay
tube that forms part of this guide wire and allows it to maintain a very slim (less than
1mm) profile. Xenolith Medical’s device also has a flexible floppy tip that can be advanced
past urethral stones. Much like a guidewire, Xenolith Medical’s device can be used either
side-by-side to the ureteroscope or introduced through its working channel. Upon ureter
introduction the device is advanced beyond the occluding stone until reaches the kidney
so the mesh is positioned proximal to the stone (i.e. between the stone and the kidney).
Once properly positioned, the overlay tube that retracts the mesh is withdrawn, allowing
the mesh to deploy and self-expand. The mesh can self-expand up to 12mm in diameter,
fitting to all ureter sizes and shapes applying a carefully pre-calibrated radial force to
the ureter wall. The fully deployed mesh acts as a barrier to particles larger than 1mm
preventing their migration to the kidney and allowing enhanced irrigation for both better
visualization and faster lithotripsy due to stone migration prevention.
