Nora Springer placed eighth of fourteen
finalists chosen from a field of more than
660,000 original entries in the nation for
her documentary, The American Dream
Deferred: The Myers Family in Levittown,
PA, which she produced after months of intensive
research. More than 36,000 entries
comprised the junior individual documentary
category, and 89 of those represented
their states in the final competition in
Washington, D.C. Nora was accompanied
by middle school teacher Miss Melissa Kalwanaski.
Nora stated, “It was just so exciting to see
the work of more than 2,800 students from
all over the country and the world and to
meet so many other kids who love history
and research as much as I do.” More than
300 historians and other education professionals
help to evaluate the entries during
