Citizenship & Community Service
Westy’s Angels Serve Community
at the Middle School
Westy’s Angels are a philanthropic group with a goal of community
service through the middle school. Three special projects this year included
American Cancer Society Daffodil Days, through which the Angels
donated money for cancer research, Jeans for Teens, a partnership with
the Westmont Hilltop Key Club to collect gently used jeans of all sizes for
homeless teens in the U.S., and Bandanas for the Human Society. Angels
helped Mrs. Battaglia’s class with their project of making bandanas for the
Humane Society. They also participated in the Salvation Army’s Treasures
For Children.
Key Club Serves Community
at the High School
Key Club is a student led organization that serves in conjunction with
the adult group Kiwanis that takes action in the community. Key Club
organizes events and activities that can help to better the community by
action or donation.
Each year, Key Club recognizes one senior who gave 110% to the mission
of Key Club. The recipient of this year’s scholarship award helped lead the
club to perform more than 50 hours of community service projects this year
and helped to raise nearly $1,500 for various charities. This year’s award
went to Marissa Miller. The Kiwanis Club also presented the following
