Donald I. Dickmann (with pal Benny) is professor emeritus at
Michigan State University, where he taught and conducted
research in silviculture and ecology in the Department of
Forestry for 30 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in
forestry from the University of Washington and a doctorate in
plant physiology from the University of Wisconsin. He is the
senior author of three previous books, including
The Forests of Michigan (2003).
