3.4 PRESENT SITUATION:<br />

3.4.1 FISH SPECIES AND CATCHES:<br />

To facilitate communication a list of fish species in the iishana is given in Table 2<br />

below. All species collected since 1975 in iishana are listed. For species reported in<br />

the canal and associated water bodies and in Olushandja Dam, refer to Hay et<br />

al,(1997, 1999) and van der Waal (1991). Table 1 lists the most commonly found fish<br />

of the iishana.<br />

A summary of fish catches are presented in Table 2 that indicates both the fish<br />

species caught during the present survey as well as historical data on fish species<br />

collected since 1975 in iishana. Table 3 summarizes all known recorded fish from the<br />

Cuvelai including those from the June survey. The actual catches at each site during<br />

this survey are presented in Appendix 3b.<br />
