that the portion of Figure 49 for which the SEP angle is small is shown in Figure 50. Figure<br />

50 shows the time when the optical communications system is not downlinking because the<br />

SEP is less than 5 degrees, while the Ka-band is still downlinking down to an SEP of 1 degree.<br />

The data volume difference due to this longer optical communication outage is small, given<br />

that it occurs at the farthest range with the lowest data rates. When the results of a CFLOS<br />

analysis are considered and multiple receive stations are incorporated, as discussed above,<br />

this data return can be increased substantially.<br />
