Figure 50 shows the time when the optical communications system is not downlinking because the SEP is less than 5 degrees, while the Ka-band is still downlinking down to an SEP of 1 degree. The data volume difference due to this longer optical communication outage is small, given that it occurs at the farthest range with the lowest data rates. When the results of a CFLOS analysis are considered and multiple receive stations are incorporated, as discussed above, this data return can be increased substantially.
