8 Identification of Candidate <strong>Local</strong> <strong>Landscape</strong><br />
Areas<br />
8.1 The next stage of the process looks in more detail within the LCUs which<br />
make up the Area of Search. In order to move from character-based LCUs,<br />
to quality-based candidate <strong>Local</strong> <strong>Landscape</strong> Areas (cLLA), a two stage analysis<br />
was undertaken. The first stage identifies specific areas and groups of areas<br />
which perform well in terms of the evaluation criteria. The second stage<br />
involves applying practical criteria to produce suitable candidate areas for<br />
designation.<br />
8.2 These two stages are described in detail in Section 3, and the findings are<br />
presented in Table 8.1.<br />
