We’re pleased to offer our annual Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce Business and
Community Guide to you. The members listed in the Guide are engaged in business in our community
and they look forward to the opportunity to serve you.
The Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce is a vibrant business organization, with much
to offer. Begun in 1957, by Founder Walter Winkelmeyer, we have grown to meet the needs of
our community. We provide a number of benefits to our members, including networking events,
member-to-member discounts, referral groups, a variety of educational seminars, promotional
opportunities, a legislative voice, and advocacy for the continuing excellence of our schools.
We’re proud of our accomplishments in the Greater Severna Park community. Included are the
annual Independence Day parade, and initiatives such as the Business Advisory Board we’ve
established at Severna Park High School, and various events we sponsor throughout the year.
In 2012 we plan to sponsor a Youth Leadership Conference for students from area schools. We
hold a Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony on Holly Avenue in early December. We sponsor several Trade Fairs, and in 2010
began a Taste & Sip event to highlight our area restaurants and catering establishments.
In closing, remember to support the members of the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce. A strong business community
is one of our greatest assets. Our mission statement is “to support and promote Greater Severna Park business in
harmony with the community.” We are dedicated to fulfilling that mission statement and providing a voice for business in the
Greater Severna Park area.

a meSSaGe from the Chamber’S 2012 preSident
When my family moved to the Severna Park area sixteen years ago, I was working for Marriott
Hotels and later their Foundation for People with Disabilities. It was fast paced and required
much travel. Now I work as Executive Director for Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church. I
have more time for my family, faith and community.
My involvement with the Chamber started with something as simple as the July 4th parade.
But I quickly became aware of what our Chamber is all about. The Chamber works to encourage
new business development, to create awareness of problems facing our community and to
develop potential solutions, to be a source of information and support for current members,
and to maintain and enhance the good that is Severna Park.
The Severna Park Chamber of Commerce understands that in order to have a strong economic
environment, you must have a strong community that supports and encourages growth and
innovative thinking. We are truly blessed in Severna Park to have leaders, business owners, educators, and a wealth of private
citizens who recognize that we all share in the responsibility of creating economic success and stability as well as a healthy
community environment for our children and grandchildren.
I believe, as a community, we share a vision. We work, we volunteer, we support and serve as we build on the successes of
those who came before us and develop new and innovative strategies that will make Severna Park even better.
I look forward to working together to continue our vision.
