The members support our members at Ribbon Cuttings, attend<br />
Welcome Breakfasts, and provide a warm welcome at Chamber<br />

LEGISLATIVE<br />
The Chamber is a legislative “voice” for its members on business<br />
issues or issues which affect our area or the growth and economic<br />
welfare <strong>of</strong> our County. A Legislative Breakfast and a Legislative<br />
Mixer are two <strong>of</strong> the events planned for 2012.<br />

Included in the initiatives <strong>of</strong> this committee are the Business Advisory<br />
Board at Severna Park High School, and a Youth Leadership<br />
Conference in 2012. The Chamber takes pride in being involved in<br />

“TOAST OF SEVERNA PARK Toastmasters Organization<br />
The Greater Severna Park Chamber had a role in getting this Toastmasters<br />
Club started. The group currently meets at Woods Memorial<br />
Presbyterian Church. Toastmasters helps people develop their<br />
public speaking and leadership skills. For more information, contact<br />

INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE<br />
This annual event is a “signature” event for the Chamber <strong>of</strong> Commerce.<br />
Our 2012 parade will be held on Wednesday, July 4th, beginning<br />
at 10 a.m., and will culminate with a festival at Cypress Creek<br />
Park. The community is encouraged to participate in this beloved<br />
community event. The theme will be chosen in early 2012 and applications<br />
will be available by early spring. The Chamber is proud be<br />
a part <strong>of</strong> events recognizing our Nation’s birthday.<br />
HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING<br />
This annual event is a winter “signature” event for the Chamber. Held<br />
on Friday, November 30 in 2012, this event will provide entertainment<br />
and an Open House at the Chamber’s building on Holly Avenue.<br />
FUND RAISING<br />
Two primary events are planned for 2012. They are our annual<br />
“Driving Force” for Business Golf Tournament in September, and<br />
the “Taste & Sip” <strong>of</strong> Greater Severna Park, planned for November.<br />
Both events present the opportunity for involvement by our members,<br />
and both are not only fund raisers, but “fun raisers” as well!<br />
GREATER SEVERNA PARK WATERSHED ACTION<br />
GROUP (W.A.G.)<br />

The GSP W.A.G. is a coalition <strong>of</strong> various organizations<br />
and government agencies dedicated to cleaning up the<br />
North Cypress watershed. The group has branched out to other<br />
environmental endeavors, such as an annual Earth Day event in the<br />
spring.<br />

ASPIRE, Inc. is the Association for Severna Park Improvement, Renewal<br />
and Enhancement. The Chamber has been actively involved since<br />
this organization began with representatives from the Greater Severna<br />
Park Chamber <strong>of</strong> Commerce and the Greater Severna Park Council.<br />

The Business Development group organizes free informational<br />
events to help our members stay abreast <strong>of</strong> important business information,<br />
area development, regulations, and other topics key to business<br />
success. The events are held monthly and are open to the public.<br />

This committee is focused on supporting local business and encouraging<br />
the community to see the key role local businesses play in<br />
keeping our community strong and vibrant. A Shop Local initiative<br />
will launch in early 2012, with incentives and events to keep the<br />
focus on shopping local.<br />

REFERRAL GROUPS<br />
The Greater Severna Park Chamber <strong>of</strong> Commerce has six referral groups<br />
that meet regularly and provide support and business leads to the other<br />
members <strong>of</strong> the group. Two <strong>of</strong> our groups meet weekly and four meet<br />
every other week. The groups that meet every other week are called<br />
S.U.N. groups (Support Unlimited Network). Membership in one <strong>of</strong><br />
these groups is an added benefit <strong>of</strong> membership, at no additional cost.<br />
