of Parks and Recreation
for the City of Sanger, is
the Railroad Ball Park in
Sanger, where free mulch
will be available for pickup.
The City of Sanger
is providing free mulch
for pickup in the Railroad
Ball Park located
at 600 Railroad Avenue.
The mulch pile is located
near the north entrance
along the fence and will
be added to periodically
allowing everyone an
opportunity to access the
mulch. Anyone wanting
mulch will be responsible
for loading their own containers
and vehicles.
This material contains
bark and pieces of
wood of various sizes that
decomposes relatively
slowly. The mulch is good
at suppressing weeds and
it does not wash away easily.
Adding a 2- to 3- inch
layer of wood chips provides
good weed control
and water conservation
for your trees and shrubs.
Post season odds just increased, extra travel expected in new realignment
Class 3A will have four teams make the playoffs
Sanger News
and playoff spots that will
The University Interscholastic
League (UIL) recently
announced changes
to high school classifications
go into effect next season.
On February 26, the
UIL issued a release stating
that Texas’ new Commissioner
of Education, Michael
Williams, signed into
effect all 25 amendments
passed by the UIL’s Legislative
Council in October.
Several of the changes
will significantly alter the
landscape of high school
sports statewide.
Notably, Classes 3A and
2A will add a fourth playoff
team from each district in
football, baseball, basketball,
soccer, softball and volleyball,
starting in the 2013-
Sanger News
14 school year. The league
already advances four teams
in those sports in Classes 5A
and 4A. The UIL originally
made this change at the
5A and 4A levels a couple
of years back, and was the
topic of both praise and criticism.
At one time, only the
district champions went to
the playoffs, but over the last
twenty-five years the UIL
has gradually increased this
number. An additional playoff
spot would mean that
four out of the five teams
in Sanger’s District 9-3A
would advance to the playoffs
next school year.
Sanger News
The alteration will affect
the schedule of UIL’s
football championships; the
addition of another team to
the 3A Division I football
playoffs will push its championship
game back in line
with the other 11-man football
finals, likely forcing four
games to be played on one
of the three championship
dates.
One could speculate
that the increased number
of playoff spots is in preparation
for larger districts
across the board in the next
UIL Realignment.
This means that 3A
teams would be competing
with schools close to their
own high school enrollment
once they reached district
and the playoffs. This divisional
change for 3A is final
now, as the Class 3A superintendents
recently voted for
the change.
Breaking News
Sanger High School has
large enrollment numbers
for Class 3A. Sanger head
football coach and athletic
director Chuck Galbreath
said last week at the Sanger
Relays that he’s seen some
mock UIL realignment
drafts. “From what I understand
the UIL will try
to make eight team districts
now with four teams Sanger mak-
News Header 3a
ing it to the playoffs. I’ve
heard we could travel as far
as Springtown, Burkburnett
and Wichita Falls (Hirschi)
to make an eight-team large
class 3A district.” That includes
- Argyle, Decatur,
Gainesville, Carrollton
Ranchview and Sanger, with
those schools listed above.”
More than likely, as
the UIL starts the district
realignments out west and
moves towards the metroplex,
it would be too much
travel for an eight team district
in west Texas. “I don’t
know how they could do it
without adding a tremendous
amount of Sanger travel for News Header 4
those schools. How that affects
us... I don’t know,” said
Galbreath. With Sanger
moving into a big school
district, Sanger and Krum
will no longer be in the same
district, as KHS (460) has a
much smaller enrollment
than SHS (722). In the past,
Division I and II were adjusted
for the playoffs only.
In the 2014-16 realignment,
Class 3A Division I (big
school) districts and Division
II (small school) districts
for district play as well
as the playoffs will be created.
So parents, athletes and
coaches can expect a lot of
Sanger News Header 5
traveling to meet these requirements.
Logically, six-team districts
would be better than
eight, to cut down on travel.
“No one knows, it’s all
speculation. In my opinion,
if we are in an eight-team
(big school) 3A district, we
will see a lot of extra travel,”
added Galbreath.
Class 6A will be created,
but not to house to
state’s mega-high schools.
Instead, during the 2014-
16 realignment, the current
Class 1A will be split into
two separate classes, with
the remaining classes relabeled;
subsequently, what is
now 5A will become 6A.
50th Anniversary
Dale and Linda Boyer
Dale and Linda married on March 16, 1963 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
In 1968 they moved their two young sons to the small Central
Texas town of Cedar Park where they had two more children, both
daughters. In 1988 they relocated to Sanger, Texas for their jobs
at the Texas Instrument plant in Denton. God has always been the
time evangelizing to the youth incarcerated in Gainesville and are
active in their church at Blue Mound Methodist Church, Denton.
Their family has grown to now include ten grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren who together want to congratulate them for the
wonderful example of love and devotion to one another. “We Love
You Mom and Dad”
Edward Jones
Time for
Gen-Xers to Put
IRAs to Work
If you’re a “Gen-Xer,”
born between 1965 and
1980, you’ve still got many
years to go until you retire.
At this stage of your life,
what can you do to help
build resources for the retirement
lifestyle you’ve envisioned?
Besides having time on
your side, you’ve got another
key advantage in saving
for retirement — specifically,
you probably haven’t
reached your peak earning
years. This helps you in at
least two ways. First, of
course, it means you should
be able to increase your retirement
savings in the future.
And second, it might
mean you’re still eligible
to contribute to one of the
most effective retirement accounts
available — the Roth
IRA.
When you invest in a
Roth IRA, your earnings are
distributed tax free, provided
you’ve had your account
at least five years and you
don’t start taking withdrawals
until you’re at least 59½.
For the 2013 tax year, you
can put in up to $5,500 to a
Roth IRA; when you reach
50, you’ll also be able to
make “catch-up” contributions.
(Currently, the catchup
limit is $1,000.)
However, the ability to
make Roth IRA contributions
is limited by income.
For 2013, you can make
the full contribution to a
Roth IRA if you are single
and your modified adjusted
gross income (MAGI) is less
than $112,000. Above this
amount, your contribution
limit will be gradually reduced,
and if your MAGI
reaches $127,000, you won’t
be able to contribute at all. If
you’re married filing jointly,
the lower limit is $178,000
and the cutoff amount is
$188,000.
Of course, if you have
to consider these income
limits, you’re making a rea-
sonably good living, and you
may well be on a career path
that will take you to even
greater earnings — which is
why you should think about
putting in as much as possible
to a Roth IRA while
you’re eligible.
If your earnings are already
over the limit for the
Roth IRA, you can still contribute
to a traditional IRA.
Your contributions can grow
tax deferred, which means
your money can accumulate
faster than it would on an
account on which you paid
taxes every single year. Taxes
are due upon withdrawal,
and withdrawals prior to
age 59½ may be subject to a
10% IRS penalty.
But what if your income
level is such that you
could contribute to either
a Roth IRA or a traditional
IRA? Which one should
you choose?
There’s no “right” answer
for everyone. On the
one hand, the Roth’s taxfree
distributions may be
more attractive to you than
the tax-deferred growth
potential of a traditional
IRA if you expect your tax
rate to be higher in the future.
However, depending
on your income level and
whether you have access to
a 401(k) or other retirement
plan at work, your traditional
IRA contributions may
be fully or partially tax-deductible.
But these types of
calculations are not easy,
so before making the traditional-or-Roth
choice, you’ll
need to consult with your
tax advisor.
In any case, now is the
time to capitalize on your
Gen-X status and use the
years ahead to invest consistently
in an IRA and other
tax-advantaged retirement
accounts. As an investor,
time is your greatest ally —
so take advantage of it.
North Texas State Fair
& Rodeo announces
theme for 85th year
The North Texas State Fair and Rodeo, celebrating
its 85th consecutive year, has announced the 2013 theme-
“Rockin’ to Tradition.”
This year’s theme reflects the deep commitment of the
NTSFR to the fundamental values of the Texas cowboy
culture while recognizing the continuing evolvement of the
Texas lifestyle. “Texas has the ability to maintain its proud
traditions while embracing the changes that are inevitable in
any culture,” said NTSFR executive director Glenn Carlton.
“Our 2013 theme of Rockin’ to Tradition reflects that.”
This year’s nine-day event, August 16-24, is expected
to draw up to 150,000 in attendance, continuing the record-breaking
crowds of the last several years.
Carlton said the North Texas State Fair and Rodeo, one
of the largest in the state, will offer a wide array of nightly
concerts and rodeos, a premier midway, livestock expositions,
exhibits, food and much more. All concerts and rodeos
are included in the fair admission price.
Henry takes gold
at Zenith Classic
Eight year old Courtney Henry, daughter of Alan
and Marcie Henry of Sanger and little sister to Coleton
Henry, competed at the Zenith TAAF (Texas Amateur Athletic
Federation) Qualifier on March 9, 2013 in McKinney,
Texas and took the GOLD medal on the Balance Beam
with a solid score of a 9.70! Courtney continued to have an
amazing meet taking the silver on the Vault with a 9.25, the
silver on the Floor Exercise with a 9.60, and 6th place on
the Uneven Bars with a 9.45.
The All Around Competition is based on the cumulative
scores of all the gymnasts competing on all four of
the apparatuses. Courtney took the Silver in the All-Around
finishing four-tenths of a point behind the gold medal winner.
Courtney’s ALL-AROUND score was an amazing
38.0 out of a possible 40.0 and was her personal best!
What makes this meet so amazing for Courtney is
the fact that she is recovering from a recent back injury and
as of a week ago was unsure if she would be able to compete
at this meet therefore keeping her hopes alive to qualify
for the State TAAF meet in May.
Obstacles are the stepping stones of success
By Harvey Mackay
A man was walking in the park one day
when he came upon a cocoon with a small
opening. He sat and watched the butterfly
for several hours as it struggled to force its
body through the little hole. Then it seemed
to stop making any progress. It looked like
it had gotten as far as it could, so the man
decided to help the butterfly. He used his
pocketknife and snipped the remaining bit
of the cocoon.
The butterfly then emerged easily, but
something was strange. The butterfly had a
swollen body and shriveled wings. The man
continued to watch the butterfly because he
expected at any moment the wings would
enlarge and expand to be able to support the
body, which would contract in time. Neither
happened. In fact, the butterfly spent
the rest of its life crawling around with a
swollen body and deformed wings. It was
never able to fly.
What the man in his kindness and haste
did not understand was that the restricting
cocoon and the struggle required for the
butterfly to emerge was natural. It was nature’s
way of forcing fluid from its body into
its wings so that it would be ready for flight
once it achieved its freedom. Sometimes
struggles are exactly what we need in our
lives.
If we were allowed to go through life
without any obstacles, we would be crippled.
We would not be as strong as what we
could have been. And we could never fly.
History has shown us that the most celebrated
winners usually encountered heartbreaking
obstacles before they triumphed.
They won because they refused to become
discouraged by their defeats.
My good friend, Lou Holtz, football
coach of the University of South Carolina,
once told me, “Show me someone who has
done something worthwhile, and I’ll show
you someone who has overcome adversity.”
Beethoven composed his greatest works
after becoming deaf. George Washington
was snowed in through a treacherous winter
at Valley Forge. Abraham Lincoln was
raised in poverty. Albert Einstein was called
a slow learner, retarded and uneducable. If
Christopher Columbus had turned back, no
one could have blamed him, considering
the constant adversity he endured.
As an elementary student, actor James
Earl Jones (a.k.a. Darth Vader) stuttered so
badly he communicated
with friends
and teachers
using written
notes.
Itzhak
Perlman, the
incomparable
concert violinist,
was born
to parents who
survived a
Nazi concentration
camp and has been paralyzed from
the waist down since the age of four.
Chester Carlson, a young inventor, took
his idea to 20 big corporations in the 1940s.
After seven years of rejections, he was able
to persuade Haloid, a small company in
Rochester, N.Y., to purchase the rights to his
electrostatic paper- copying process. Haloid
has since become Xerox Corporation.
Thomas Edison tried over 2,000 experiments
before he was able to get his light
bulb to work. Upon being asked how he felt
about failing so many times, he replied, “I
never failed once. I invented the light bulb.
It just happened to be a 2,000-step process.”
Franklin Delano Roosevelt, elected
President of the United States for four
terms, had been stricken with polio at the
age of 39.
Persistence paid off for General Douglas
MacArthur. After applying for admission
to West Point twice, he applied a third
time and was accepted. The rest is history.
In 1927 the head instructor of the John
Murray Anderson Drama School, instructed
student Lucille Ball, to “Try any other
profession. Any other.”
Buddy Holly was fired from the Decca
record label in 1956 by Paul Cohen, Nashville
“Artists and Repertoire Man.” Cohen
called Holly “the biggest no-talent I ever
worked with.”
Academy Award-winning writer, producer
and director Woody Allen failed motion
picture production at New York University
(NYU) and City College of New
York. He also flunked English at NYU.
Helen Keller, the famous blind author
and speaker, said: “Character cannot be developed
in ease and quiet. Only through experience
of trial and suffering can the soul
be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition
inspired and success achieved. Silver is purified
in fire and so are we. It is in the most
trying times that our real character is shaped
and revealed.”
Mackay’s Moral: There is no education
like the university of adversity.
Tennis time...
CTE enjoys
annual clinic
CTE Students enjoyed the annual Tennis Clinic. Imagine 44
children all with tennis rackets at the same time. Imagine
smiles and balls bouncing everywhere. CTE experienced
that as Coach Yvonne and Coach Victor from Goldfield
Tennis Center of Denton’s Parks and Recreation came and
shared about the lifetime sport of tennis with CTE students.
The coaches spent the day with the CTE P.E. classes. Students
made tennis ball sandwiches, practiced different hits
and learned tennis skills. The Tennis clinic is part of CTE’s
physical education program which promotes healthy choices
and lifetime fitness.

Q&A
By Kim
Komando
Q. I have a small business, and I’d like to
start selling my products online. What tools
can I use?
A. Most Web hosting companies have business
plans for less than $10 a month. Almost all
of them include built-in e-commerce systems. If
you don’t already have a site, look into hosting
from Bluehost, DreamHost or HostGator. The
only problem with these sites is that you have
to construct the store yourself. You might want
to look into specialty services like Shopify, Magento
Go or Amazon Webstore. These do much
of the work for you. If you’re selling handmade
things, it might be easier to sell them on an artsand-crafts
shop like ArtFire or Etsy.
Q. I saw that my browser has a private
browsing function. Does this actually keep
people from seeing what I’m doing?
A. That depends on who you’re trying to
hide it from. Private or Incognito browsing
can be turned on in most browsers by hitting
CTRL+SHIFT+P (CTRL+OPTION+P on
Macs). The major exception is Chrome, where
it’s CTRL+SHIFT+N (OPTION+SHIFT+N).
Private mode forces your browser to ignore
cookies and doesn’t record your browsing to
your browser’s history. It’s good for hiding your
browsing from snoops and people who use your
computer. However, ad trackers still can sniff
out your information, and your ISP still records
where you go. If you want to try to avoid that,
you need to use a proxy, like KProxy. Don’t mistake
either of these as an excuse to do anything
illegal.
Q. I’m joining a book club. We read a new
book every week, so I need to find a way to save
money on books. Would using ebooks help?
A. They sure could! You can actually find
thousands of free ebooks on sites like Project
Gutenberg and Feedbooks. You don’t even need
an ereader to read them — any smarpthone, tablet
or computer will work. The one catch is that
you won’t find many recently released books on
free ebook sites, which might be what your book
club is focused on. For that, try Overdrive. It’s
an app that cruises your local library for ebook
loans of more recent titles. You can check out
books right from the app, and it returns them for
you automatically.
Q. I read recently that people can use
something called a keylogger to spy on me.
What is a keylogger? How do I tell if I have
one?
A. A keylogger is a hardware gadget or software
program that monitors everything you type
and creates a log of it for someone else. Some
keyloggers can take photos of your screen, too.
Keyloggers are good at hiding, so you need
does the trick. If it finds a keylogger, you can
try to remove it with your security software, but
you’ll usually need a paid program like SpyReveal.
Note that hardware keyloggers can’t be detected
with software. However, hardware keyloggers
usually plug into an open port on your
computer or attach to your keyboard or mouse
connections, so you can find it just by looking.
Q. My computer is starting to slow down.
Will more RAM speed it back up?
A. It could under the right circumstances.
If you have an older computer with less than 4
gigabytes of RAM, doubling the current amount
of RAM will make it snappier. Use the Crucial
scanner to see what kind of RAM your computer
supports.
However, if you already have 4 GB or more,
adding more won’t help your cause. In that case,
you want to check with a program like Process
Explorer to see what programs are taxing your
system. It should give you a good idea of what is
slowing things down. Keep in mind that a virus
could be the cause, so make sure you run a scan
with your anti-virus of choice.
Q. I do most of my work on a tablet. The
only problem is printing out the finished product.
Can I do this without buying new gear?
A. It depends on what gear you already
have. Some printers have built-in support for
Apple’s AirPrint and/or Google’s Cloud Print.
Check the lists from Apple and Google to see if
your printer is one of them. You might be able
to transfer documents through USB or SD (with
an adapter for your gadget’s microSD card), too.
If not, there are a few apps that work, like Print
n Share and Cloud Print. Just make sure you
read the fine print that comes along with them.
There’s usually a good deal of setup involved to
get them working.
Q. I keep seeing more and more headlines
about Java being open to viruses. Should I remove
the program?
A. It depends on how much you need it.
Don’t forget, some important programs such as
the Office alternative LibreOffice won’t run if
you delete Java.
If you’ve double-checked and can’t find any
program you use that needs Java, then it’s OK to
delete it. However, if you do use a program that
requires Java, you need to update it and tweak a
few settings to make it safer to use on your computer.
If a website you visit often uses Java, I would
download a second browser and use it only for
that site. That should minimize your risk of infection.
Q. I have thousands of messages just hanging
around my inbox. I don’t even read half of
the ones I receive. What can I do to clean them
up?
A. One of the easiest ways to do this is to
unsubscribe from email newsletters and subscriptions
you don’t want. You can do this manually
with your email provider’s search tool. Just
search for the word “Unsubscribe.” If you use
Gmail or Yahoo mail, a service like unroll.me
can do the work for you. That will prevent you
Q. Would a tablet be useful to help me
draw things online? I’m looking for a tablet
with Photoshop or something similar.
A. Well, there is the free app Photoshop
Express, but I don’t think that’s what you really
want. It’s more for photo editing.
A better app for your drawing needs is going
to be Sketchbook Pro. That app works especially
well with styluses, so make sure you buy one
for your tablet. If you don’t already have a tablet,
you can find some that come with styluses, like
Galaxy Note 10.1. See how it stacks up to other
tablets with my tablet comparison chart.
Q. I lost the password to my email account
and I don’t remember which secondary email
I set up for the “forgot my password” link. Is
there any way I can get it back?
A. Nirsoft has a bunch of different tools
that can help you recover passwords. Not only
do they find passwords buried in your network
settings, but in your browser, too. It’s usually not
the best idea to save a password in your browser,
but it does help you get it back if you forget.
In Firefox, go to Firefox >> Options >> Security
and click Saved Passwords.
For Chrome, type “chrome://settings/passwords”
into your address bar.
Safari users can go to Safari >> Preferences
and select “Passwords.” Click the “Show Passwords”
check box to reveal them.
Internet Explorer doesn’t have an easy settings
fix to do this.
Q. I ran a virus scan and my program turned
up a bunch of things it labeled “third-party”
cookies. What are these?
A. When you visit most websites, they
place cookies on your browser. These are small
bits of data that store your site settings for future
visits. This is why you don’t have to constantly
log into Facebook any time you browse to a new
Facebook page. Those are first-party cookies.
Third-party cookies are when an advertiser or
other third-party service on a site places a cookie.
These can often be related to advertising tracking,
so it’s best to opt-out of them in your browser.
To opt-out of multiple types of ad tracking at
once, try a service like SelectOut.
Q. I really want to stop paying money every
month for cable, but I don’t want to miss
my shows. Would a tablet help me cut the cord?
A. It certainly could. Since tablets stream
video from Netflix , HBO and other sites, you can
find plenty to watch. Some tablets even support
streaming from microHDMI or HDMI ports so
you can plug them right in to your TV. I wouldn’t
recommend a tablet solely for cutting the cord
unless you already have one, though. The starting
price for a tablet is at least $200 compared to
the $50 starting price of streaming media boxes
like the Roku LT. A streaming box is easier to
plug in to your TV and can stream everything
that a tablet can, often more. See what streaming
gadgets are available and how they stack up here.
Q. As my computer gets older, it takes forever
to boot. Is this a permanent thing or can I
speed things up a little bit?
A. Computers will lose speed over time, but
you can noticeably trim your boot times with the
right programs. Autoruns is a personal favorite
of mine. It helps you disable programs that turn
on automatically when you start your computer.
You can clear some of these out yourself by
going to Start>>All Programs>>Startup and
remove program icons. This stops the programs
from starting up without deleting them. If you
want programs to turn on automatically but still
want to speed things up, try a program like Startup
Delayer or TopWinPrio. These help you manager
your computer’s resources to stop logjams
at startup.
Q. I’m taking a trip soon and I want to
snap some pictures. Do I need to buy a pointand-shoot
camera or can I just use my smartphone?
A. It depends. Newer smartphones with
8-megapixel cameras, or higher, eliminate the
need for a dedicated point-and-shoot. With a
photo-editing app like Snapseed, you might even
be able to take some great shots with a phone that
has a 5MP camera. However, if you’re looking to
take photographs like a pro, I don’t recommend
a point-and-shoot or a smartphone. You’ll want a
DSLR or a hybrid point-and-shoot like the Panasonic
Lumix, Pentax Q or Canon PowerShot S.
These will blow smartphone and point-and-shoot
photos out of the water.
Q. Whenever I send an email to multiple
people, everyone can see every email address.
Is there any way to prevent this?
A. You bet! It’s called BCC, or blind carbon
copy. In most email programs it’s right next to the
To: and CC: fields, or at least in that area. Some
email programs, like Thunderbird, can change
the To: field to BCC: with a click. To and CC
send emails with visible addresses, but every address
you put in the BCC field stays hidden. For
forwards and mass email to people who might
not know each other, I would use BCC for all the
addresses. If your email program requires something
in the To field, use your own email address.
Q. My friend’s Nexus 7 supports multiple
user accounts. Is there a way I could do this on
my iPad? I’d like to set up a locked account that
my kids can use to play games and nothing else.
A. Sadly, there’s no way to do this on Apple
gadgets yet. You can download the Our Pad
app, but that only works for browsing and social
media, and it costs $3. If your tablet’s running
iOS 6, however, you can enable a feature called
Guided Access for free. Go to Settings>>General>>Accessibility>>Guided
Access to set it
up. Create a password and choose to disable or
enable screen sleep — that’s it! Now, whenever
your child wants to play, launch their game and
tap the Home button three times to bring up the
Guided Access menu. It locks the tablet to just
the active app. To exit, tap Home three times and
enter your passcode.
Tough Tournament
Indians lose all three games at Ponder
Sanger’s varsity baseball
team was roughed up
a little at the Ponder Tournament.
They dropped all
three games. “We led all
three games late, but lost
with one bad inning in each
game,” said Sanger coach
Steve Ford.
The Indians fell 11-8
to Sunnyvale in seven innings
on Thursday at Ponder
despite racking up 17
hits and eight runs.
Ted Wisdom racked
up two RBIs on three hits
for the Indians. He tripled
in the second inning and
singled in the first and sixth
innings.
The top of the first saw
the Indians take an early
lead, 3-0. The Indians’
threat began with a single
by Wisdom. A stolen base
then moved Wisdom from
first to second. The Indians
added more runs when
Connor Martin and Wilding
Smith scored on a two-run
double by Austen Lange.
It didn’t take long for
Sunnyvale to answer as
it scored three runs of its
own in the first. Sunnyvale
scored on an error, and a
sacrifice fly.
The Indians matched
their two-run second inning
with two more in the fifth.
In the second, the Indians
scored on a two-run triple
by Wisdom, bringing home
Anthony Escobedo and
Kody Adams.
Sunnyvale stayed on
top until the final out after
taking the lead in the fifth,
scoring seven runs on an
error, two singles, and two
triples.
Anthony Escobedo
was solid at the plate for
the Indians against Ponder.
Escobedo went 1-4
and scored one run. He
doubled in the first inning.
Ted Wisdom continued his
hot hitting as well going 2
for 4 on the day.
The Indians jumped
out to an early 2-0 lead in
the top of the first. The Indians
attack began with a
double from Escobedo. A
stolen base then moved
Escobedo from second to
third. Austen Lange singled,
scoring Escobedo.
The Indians pushed more
runs across when Anderson
scored on an error.
Ponder scored one
run of its own in the fourth.
Ponder scored on an error.
Ponder took the lead
in the fifth, scoring three
runs on an error, a fielder’s
choice, and an RBI single
by Malcom.
Ponder added two
more runs in the bottom of
the sixth. Nielieson singled,
plating Bear to start the inning.
That was followed up
by Malcom’s single, scoring
Broodstreet.
Austen Lange hit two
home runs, but it wasn’t
enough to carry the Indians
to a win on Saturday,
as the Indians fell to JPII
Ponder Tourney 7-5 in seven
innings.
The Indians jumped
out to an early 1-0 lead in
the top of the second. A
solo home run by Lange
started the inning off.
The Indians got onerun
rallies in the fourth
inning and the seventh.
In the fourth, the Indians
scored on a solo home run
by Lange.
JPII stayed on top until
the final out after taking
the lead in the fifth, scoring
five runs on two errors and
three singles.
One run in the top of
the seventh helped the Indians
close their deficit to
7-5. An RBI single by Brennan
Bloom set off the Indians
rally. JPII Ponder Tourney’s
Weinstein induced a
Anthony Escobedo fly out
to close things out.
The Sanger JB baseball tournament
was held March 7-9. They were able to
get games in on Thursday and Friday,
Hometown Banking At Its Best
First Class Service on a First Name Basis
Your locally-owned bank should treat you like a neighbor.
We will, from the moment you enter our doors and smell the fresh coffee or
hot-buttered popcorn, make every effort to have you feel comfortable and at
home. Our friendly atmosphere is contagious and will make you want to come
back for all your banking needs.
We are and have always been locally-owned and operated since our opening
in 1987. We have remained strong and independent and refused the stimulus
package that was offered by the Government and accepted by many of our
competitors. We don’t have the “Big Bank mentality” and don’t want it.
Our staff and customers are our strength and have brought us to where we
are today.
Come be a part of our “FAMILY” and grow with us.
We Are Your Hometown Bank
