While all the underclassteams saw successin the program, all the waydown to the seventh grade, the varsity went winless. It’s a season to forget, butit’s one of the main reasonsthe Indians are looking torebound for a momentousturnaround in 2013. Newlife has been shot in to theprogram with new coachesand new players, startingwith new offensive and defensivecoordinators. Thenew OC and quarterbackscoach Cole Ford comesfrom Irving MacArthurHigh School. He’s broughtwith him some fresh, creativeideas and some <strong>fire</strong> inhim. He goes to bat for hisoffensive players. While he was still an assistantat MacArthur in theSpring, he was in Sangervery early in the mornings, before his duties in Irving, then back late in the eveningsto help with the 7 on7. He’s at SMS in the earlymorning working with thequarterbacks and backs thisweek.Adam Shaw was namedthe defensive coordinator inthe Spring. He’s been an assistantfor SHS and SMS fora few years and has beenplayer favorite since he’sbeen here. He certainly hashis players backs. He wantedthe defense to look goodin the intra-squad scrimmageafter just one day ofa full pads practice, he wasblitzing Sanger’s offense. The offensive coachesweren’t amused, but somethinghappened in thatscrimmage, which was missinglast year. These playershave chips on their shoulders.“It was a little chippy,”said Sanger head footballcoach Chuck Galbreath. “Ilike it.”It was chippy between, players and coaches. Butafter the scrimmage, theyall came together laughingand talking with one goalin mind. To turn this thingaround. C. Ford said, “I amthe defenses biggest fan, becausethey are going to helpus get the ball back and wingames.”Then there are somenew players in the programin 2013. If you read DaveCampbell’s Texas FootballMagazine it said the DentonBronco’s were building theiroffense around junior runningback Trevon Jackson.Well, Trevon lives in Sangernow with his dad and is amember of the Indians in2013. It’s a gift to C. Fordand the starting junior quarterbackBrandon Mann. Hewill be utilized any way possible,if the first two scrimmagesare any indication.Shaw’s gift was 6’2, 250lbs., junior linebacker WildingSmith, who didn’t playhis freshman and sophomoreseason, but thanksto his baseball coach SteveFord, who coaches defensiveends, is back in the program. He’s a little raw rightnow, but have fun runningbacks doing ISOs at himand Jarrod Huther 6’0”, 200sophomore, who’s extremelystrong. “I think they aretwo of the bigger linebackersin the area,” said Galbreath.Sanger ripped throughSpringtown early and wonthe first scrimmage withthe first teams, but got alittle tired in the end. TheSpringtown coach said toGalbreath, “you guys are 10times better than last year.”The Indians won the Castleberryscrimmage and gotout of town with no injurieson the varsity. Now it’s timeto play this Friday at DallasMadison. Since November,Sanger’s had a clock countingdown to the second thisgame. It starts at 7:30 p.m.at Pleasant Grove Stadiumat 8228 Maddox Street inDallas.Dallas Madison lost toCelina in the second roundof the playoffs last year.Madison will once againbe talented and have a lotof team speed. #4 TreyGardener seems to be theremost dynamic returner. Hewill play running back andbe used as a slot receiverat times. He is not big, buthas great speed and quickness.Madison is a spreadfootball team on offense andwill throw the ball down thefield looking for big playsin the passing game whilealso handing or pitching theball to #4 to try and get himloose in the running game.Madison plays a 4-3 defensewith some zone andman coverage in the secondary. They have big, strong, athletic kids up front. 12 Thursday, August 29, 2013 v Sanger News v www.lemonspublications.comv email: sanger@lemonspublications.comNicodemus’Quest, anew bookwritten bylocalattorneyBillKincaidLuttrull-McNatt Chevrolet(Continued from pg. 1)The 2014 Chevrolet Silveradois estimated to getmid-20s in fuel mileage andis extremely quiet – quietenough to have a conversationinside without raisingyour voice. The biggest advance,Joey said, is in theelectronics, as the truck actuallybecomes a rolling hotspotand features streamingmusic, Pandora, and others, all with a touch-screen operation.“I’m actually reallyproud of Chevrolet. Theywent through a really toughtime back in 2008 and 2009and had to borrow moneyfrom the government, but they’ve since paid it allback and have bought backtheir stock from the governmentas well. They made itthrough the recession andare putting everything theyhave into new designs, andthose designs are just fantastic.”Thirteen revampedmodels will be coming outin the next thirteen months, with the just-released Silveradobeing the first. Duringthe first quarter of next year,Chevrolet will debut its2015 Tahoe and Suburbanmodels.“As much as I like theSilverado, and I love it, I’veseen the new Tahoes andSuburbans and as excited asI am about the truck, thesewill knock your socks off. They’re totally revamped –the whole interior, exterior, power train and drive train. The Suburban and Tahoewill have an estimated fuelmileage of 25 miles-per-gallon.They’ll be 2015 models, but we’ll have them inMarch of 2014.”Chevrolet is now alsobuilding a diesel version ofthe Chevy Cruze – the onlydiesel car in the marketplacetoday besides a Volkswagen– that gets 50 miles-per-gallon.“It gets crazy good gasmileage but it’s also a rocketshipwhen you drive it,”Joey said. “If I had to gobuy a commuter car to driveback and forth to Dallas, something that I’m going toput a bunch of miles on, I’dpersonally buy a Cruze ina heartbeat. It’s a three-cylinder,turbo-charged dieselthat’ll make your headspin.”One of the biggestchanges over the past coupleof years for Luttrull-McNattChevrolet is that now closeto 50-percent of its salesdeals are done online, somethingwhich certainly benefitsthe customer, Joey said.“It’s simple and it’seasy. If you could call agrocery store and get thema list, and all you had to dowas pull up, walk in, payyour tab and put your stuffin your car, how much easierwould that be?”There’s no bait-andswitch,Joey said, and customerscan rest assured thatprices for vehicles quotedonline will be the same dealsyou can get in person.“We’re not going toforce you to come in to talkabout it. We’ll really workwith you online,” Joey said.“We’re going to tell you thetruth. We’re going to beup-front. We’re going to betransparent and honest.”If a potential customersubmits a request for pricingon either a new or preownedvehicle, Luttrull-Mc-Natt Chevrolet will givechoices of vehicles and theprice that they can offer –not the sticker price – thenwill answer any questionsthe customer may have. Ifthe customer wishes to purchasethe vehicle, the entiredeal can be structured andput together electronically.Trade-ins can be appraisedonline, subject to officialinspection when the tradeinvehicle arrives, and if thecustomer needs to procurefinancing, they can also submittheir application online.“Everything is done andprocessed online, and we eitherdeliver the car to yourdoorstep or you come pickit up in Sanger,” Joey said.“We do really like for peopleto come to the dealershipto pick it up, though. Thesecars are so complicated todayand do so much that it’seasier to have you here andshow you how everythingworks.”Financing has easedup since the recession daysof 2008-09, making it easierthan one may think toget in a new vehicle, and ifLuttrull-McNatt Chevroletin Sanger doesn’t carry thespecific vehicle a customerwants, they can always findit for the customer.“It’s very easily done.We can get you any color, package, or anything specificyou want in a vehicle,”Joey said. “I’ve got fivesalespeople here in Sangerand they’ll all do anythingthey can for you.”Those salespeople, aswell as Joey, are committedto good, small-town customerservice, and try every dayto exceed the expectationsof their customers, even afterthe sale.“You know, I may beold-school, and my dealershipmay never be gigantic, but I’ve always believed thatthe most important principalis that you have to beapproachable – a real, liveperson that someone canmeet and visit with. If somebodyhas a problem or complaintor needs somethingaddressed, I’m the ownerand I’ll take your phone call. It’s about personal service,”Joey said. “It’s not just me.Mark Engman has been insales here for eight years.Duane Ashford, who livesin Krum with his daughter, has recently joined us insales. There are three othergreat guys here. They allhave the same principalsthat I do.”Joey said the communityof Sanger has been goodto the dealership, and thatmany have been a source ofsupport as his wife of oneyear, Wayla, battled breastcancer recently.“My wife and I live inPonder, but I’ve got somegreat friends in Sanger thatI’m very grateful for. Steveand Nancy Hollingsworth,Kerry Lee Schertz, they’relike family to me. It wasa tough road for my wife, but after three surgeries andalmost 40 radiation treatments, she’s clear of cancernow. I’ve learned a lot frommy wife through this. Evenduring all of the treatments, she never missed a beat. Thesurgeries were rugged andpainful, but she still goes allout in everything she does.”Although Joey expandedhis business by buyingthe former Brown MotorCo. in Gainesville in 2009– now named Luttrull-Mc-Natt Buick/Chevrolet/GMC, his heart is in Sanger, which saw him through therecession years.“Sanger is just so great. We have loyal customersand happy people, and repeatbusiness is strong. Wealso pull a lot of businessfrom Krum – doing abouta dozen deals from Krumcustomers each month –andthe surrounding cities,” Joeysaid. “Quite frankly, wesurvived the shutdowns in2008-09 because of repeatreferral business. At thattime, this store was 140-percentmarket effective inSanger, Texas, which meantthat we controlled 40-percentmore of our marketthan we were responsiblefor. More and more peopleare moving here with cityfolks trying to get their kidsout of the city school and tothe country. We’re gettingmore and more businesses.I’m thankful for our customers, and I believe in Sanger.”Joey Luttrull,Owner/Dealer of Luttrull-McNattChevrolet,can be reached at 940-535-7800. The dealershipis located at 1405N. The review was written byMarv Knox, editor of the Standard and is available onlineat www.baptiststandard.com.The book focuses on Nicodemus and Joseph ofArimathea, the two prominent members of the Jewish Sanhedrinwho defied both conventional wisdom and politicalexpediency to remove Jesus’ body from the cross and givehim a proper Jewish burial. After pointing out that the Sanhedrin is the highcourt that sentenced Jesus to death, Knox’s review asks,“Why would they risk their careers—and possibly theirnecks—to provide Jesus a decent burial, when even his closestfollowers scattered and hid? That question drives BillKincaid’s moving novel.”Knox warns, “By the way, don’t get hung up on theword `novel.’ Extensive biblical, historical, geographical, archaeologicaland linguistic research exudes from each page.Kincaid selected this novel approach—quite literally—as acreative-yet-solid mechanism for reporting key events in Jesus’ministry, as well as his death/burial/resurrection andthe launch of the church.“Kincaid has created a compelling and inventiveapologetic for the Christ event. It provides a splendid opportunityto share the gospel with unbelievers who love agreat story but won’t sit still for a Bible study.”Dr. Lynn Eckeberger, who served as interim pastorof Sanger’s First Baptist Church after longtime pastor E. L.“Skip” McNeal retired, wrote the Preface for the book. Hecalled Nicodemus’ Quest a remarkable literary work that“will help you see familiar biblical passages in a 3-D imagination. To the scriptural historian, the story reveals an acuteaccuracy to the customs of the day, offering explanations tothe curious without stodgy, didactic lectures. To the interestedreader, the story carries a delightful, multidimensionalplot. To all, it is truly an entertaining experience to sharewith others. I found it to be joyful, educational, and entertaining.I think it’s a great work and hope others will havethe opportunity to enjoy it as I did.”Nicodemus’ Quest has also been endorsed by severalnotable persons who read the manuscript prior to itsbeing published. Dr. Paige Patterson, President of SouthwesternBaptist Theological Seminary, called the book “amarvelously readable story” and said that “Bill Kincaidhas learned well the art of crafting a historical novel. Thenovelist who is effective in this genre must be able to piecetogether a detailed narrative of how things might have happenedwithout violating the actual historical circumstanceson which he is embellishing.”Nicodemus’ Quest can be ordered online at Amazon.com,an electronic version is currently available for theKindle, and it is scheduled to be made available for Nooksin 2014.Victory Baptist holding “BackTo Sunday School” campaignVictory Baptist Church located at 207 Kathryn Dr. isholding a “Back To Sunday School” campaign.
