Another reactor that has provided neutron radiography services since 1968 is<br />

illustrated in Fig. 6. It is above ground and the fuel of the 100 kW core is<br />

arranged in an annulus with a moderator region in the center.<br />

Two horizontal beams are extracted from the central moderator, one for direct<br />

film neutron radiography of nonradioactive objects, the other for dysprosium<br />

activation transfer neutron radiography of radioactive nuclear fuel.<br />

Another service for static neutron radiography of radioactive nuclear fuel has<br />

been provided by a 250 kW nuclear reactor installed in a hot cell complex (Fig.<br />

7). Also several university reactors in the United States have been equipped<br />

for neutron radiography. Worldwide, over fifty nuclear reactors have<br />

contributed to development of this field.<br />
