THE SLEIGH RIDE THAT WASN'TBy Judy Hendrickson, MiriamDunster, Joe Kraetsch, Lisa Roche,Larry Singer, Paul Tallo,DavidChurcher, Helmi Churcher, Bob &Laura FuttererA starry night greeted ten hearty NCRsouls. As the snow hadn’t yet arrived, our sleigh became a wagon with hay.Our driver, Skip, and faithful Belgians,Pat and Roy, took us on a turbocharged tour around the farm. Lightsglittered, cameras flashed, wheelsrumbled. Helmi must have gotten freshwith a tree as she got slapped by a branchsomewhere along the ride. The headlights revealed they werereally taillights. Fortunately, there wereno exhaust fumes.Around the campfire Judy demonstratedthe fine art of roasting marshmallowsin layers while Lisa just wore hers.Attempts at song were made by Larry— “409, 409, she’s so fine my 409.” Butnone knew any Porsche songs.Much double entendre reigned — Skipgot married December 31st, they gotmarried for better or worse — she couldn’thave done better and he couldn’t havedone worse.A fine evening it was. All that wasmissing was our fearless leader, Ivy, whohad come down with the stomach flu. Sonext sleigh/wagon ride come on out andjoin the fun.OUR HAPPY GANG APRES SLEIGH26 Northlander February 2007
