CONTINUED FROM PAGE 3510 Years Ago (Volume 20, Number 1(February/March 1997)Not sure what happened to a Januaryissue, but this one is clearly labeledNumber 1.Officers are President: Fred Bruch,Vice President: Ellen Beck, Secretary:Scott Martineau, Treasurer: Steve Baker,Membership Chair: Bob Tucker, NewsletterEditor: Miriam Dunster and PastPresident: Judy Hendrickson. We alsonow had a growing list of Committees(Autocross, Technical, Safety/SeniorAdvisors, Driver’s Ed & Club Racingand Rally). The newsletter is an impressive 32pages and back to its 8.5 by 5.5 formatwith heavy stock cover and trimmed, clean appearance. Format is definitelycomputer created with a publishing layoutprogram. It boasts an impressive sixfeature stories, four stories on upcomingevents and seven regularly appearingcolumns. The Internet is definitely gainingground. Everyone has an email addresslisted and a list of PCA Region/Porsche related website addresses areoffered for perusal. The Treasury is upto a balance of $9481.81 with annualexpenses of just over $30,000. The articlesand columns are upbeat and it isobvious everyone is having a good time.Abe Anderson thanks everyone for receivingthe first Doug Hendrickson EnthusiastAward. There’s a pull out calendarfor the fridge outlining not only NCRevents (and there are many) but neighboringregion events and Zone 1 eventsas well. Based on info in some of thecolumns we are only in the second yearor so of putting on DE’s as we added asecond event – a 2-day event at NHISrun jointly with Metro NY. There arearticles on every aspect of PCA life, DE,Noted author Steve CarpenterClub Race, Rallies, Tech material, etc. Many articles aren’t necessarily aboutthings automotive, but just fun narrationsof events in people’s lives. It’s areminder that material for theNorthlander then and today need not bePorsche or even car related, just of humaninterest. It’s a way for us to get toknow one another better, to gain insightto one another. So, that said, put pen to paper orfingers to the keyboard as it were and letyour fingers ramble over some event orexperience that stands out more or lessin your memory. Share it with your fellowPorschefiles in North Country. Don’tworry about your spelling or grammar. We have people to fix all that. Be aparticipant, not a sideliner.February 200737 Northlander
