It features a three-dayprogram of on-track competition plus aconcours d’elegance, which is open tothe event’s participants by invitation. Inaddition, special activities are plannedhonoring the series of awesome Porsche917 racecars and commemorating the25th Anniversary of the racing debut ofthe all-conquering Porsche 956/962 prototyperacers.Held at three-year intervals, the thirdedition of Porsche Rennsport Reunionreturns to Daytona International Speedwayfollowing that track’s highly successfulstaging of Porsche RennsportReunion II in 2004. It isfilled with Porsche racing history and isone of the few tracks in America capableof conducting an event of this magnitude.”Porsche Rennsport Reunion III willhonor two of Porsche’s most historicracing models – the Porsche 917 andPorsche 956/962. In coupe form, the 12-cylinder 917/K was the first Porsche toscore an overall win at the 24 Hours ofLe Mans, scoring back-to-back victoriesin the 1970 and 1971 editions of theFrench racing classic. Fitted with twinturbochargersproducing more than 1000horsepower, the mighty open-cockpit917/10 and 917/30 rocketed to SportsCar Club of America Can-Am championshipsin 1972 and 1973.
