THENEWPORSCHEMUSEUMOne of the great pleasures of living inGermany was the proximity of thePorsche museum. I was a frequent visitor.Now the new museum is almostcompleted. It is massive when comparedto the old museum. It will house acomplete history of Porsche. A return toGermany is a must and, perhaps, weshould ask our Social Chair to organizea "treffen" for us.The accompanying two photographs, andthe following text, is from PressePorsche.The new Porsche museum takes tothe air.Stuttgart. 450 days after the groundbreakingceremony, the shell of Dr. Ing.h. c. F. Porsche AG’s new museum inStuttgart Zuffenhausen is largely completedas 2006 draws to a close. Animportant construction phase is thus concluded:the underground car park, groundfloor, first floor and central girders, the“cores”, made from reinforced concretehave been constructed. At total of 21,000cubic meters of concrete have been used.The around 100 employees – partlythanks to the mild weather of recentweeks – have made rapid progress, evenduring the cold season. Many night shiftswere arranged to lift major parts of theconstruction into place by crane, and onseveral occasions SchwieberdingerStrasse (B 27) was closed on one sideduring at night when there was littletraffic on the roads.David ChurcherLift shafts, stairwells and service channelsare now in place continued the three on page build- 2430 <strong><strong>North</strong>lander</strong> <strong>February</strong> <strong>2007</strong>
