corridor as motorists near the interstate. The crash data indicated that the majority of<br />

the crashes occurred on the ramps or where the ramps meet the mainline SR 6 traffic.<br />

The following operational improvements are recommended for this location:<br />

• Replace signage to include diagrammatic sign to indicate entrance to I‐20 ramps,<br />

particularly for southbound SR 6 to eastbound I‐20.<br />

• Change alignment of westbound I‐20 ramp for truck turning movements onto<br />

southbound SR 6.<br />

� Provide operational improvements at intersection of SR 6 at Fulton Industrial<br />

Boulevard/SR 70<br />

The intersection of SR 6 at Fulton Industrial Boulevard/SR 70 was identified for field<br />

review due to a higher frequency of crashes. SR 6 at Fulton Industrial Boulevard/SR 70<br />

is a four‐leg signalized intersection with protected‐only dual left turn phases on all<br />

approaches. This intersection is currently equipped with red light running cameras on<br />

all approaches. Fulton Industrial Boulevard/SR 70 is home to numerous warehouses,<br />

distribution centers, trucking companies, and other freight‐related businesses. The<br />

crash data revealed that a majority of the crashes at this intersection were rear‐end type<br />

collisions (57 percent), followed by sideswipe–same direction and angle type crashes (at<br />

13 percent each). The following operational improvements are recommended for this<br />

location:<br />

• Add mini‐skip pavement markings at turning lanes on northbound SR 6.<br />

• Restripe inside edge of median to extend dual left turn lanes on northbound<br />

SR 6.<br />

• Repair or replace strobe signals.<br />

• Upgrade route marker sign assemblies at all intersection legs.<br />

• Install cross hatching in the striped median on northbound SR 6.<br />

• Install signage to prevent motorists exiting the QT gas station in the northeast<br />

quadrant from the right‐out access point nearest SR 6 onto Fulton Industrial<br />

Boulevard, from making a left turn on SR 6. This maneuver requires traversing<br />

four lanes of traffic on Fulton Industrial Boulevard.<br />

� Provide operational improvements at intersection of SR 6 at I‐285<br />

The intersection of SR 6 at I‐285 was identified for field review due to a higher<br />

frequency of crashes. Public and stakeholder input also indicated this interchange is a<br />

concern, particularly during commute times. SR 6 at I‐285 is a diamond interchange<br />
