In cases where a Webgraphical user interface (GUI) is availableand presumably hosted on thesub-project team’s node, this is just amatter of informing GCL researchersof the relevant URL. We would thenembed the web interface as an i-Frameportlet in the Campus Grid Portal. Inother words, the portal acts as a onestopshowcase of the sub-project gridenabledapplications.Each member can specify the membergroup they wish to be in, thuscontrolling the i-Frame applicationsthat will appear on their personalisedportal pages upon logging in. Thisalso provides an easier route for membersto make use of the results fromanother team’s application, i.e. viathe portlets and without having toknow the application’s original URL.Currently, the UTMK and ISE projectteams have incorporated Web GUIfront-ends of their applications intothe Campus Grid Portal as i-Frameportlets (Figure 2).JOB SUBMISSION PORTALJob submission portlets were deployedto provide a user-friendly GUIfor submitting jobs to the grid, as opposedto using the command line. Authorisedusers are only required toprovide their passwords and the locationof a executable file. At the clickof a button, the job is submitted toa designated cluster. The portal willnotify the user when the job is completed,and users may then downloadthe results. In particular, we have createda dedicated job submission portletto allow thePPSM team to submittheir computation jobs to the Auroracluster.SINGLE LOGONWe implemented a single log-on systemto provide transparent access toother grid resources in USM.
