Florida NewsPeru Mission Project Results In 1,021 BaptismsDuring week-longevangelistic meetings heldat 30 sites in Arequipa,Peru, 1,021 new believerswere baptized.Seventy lay leadersand pastors from Floridaconducted the campaignsalong with Conferenceadministrators Mike Cauley,president; Carmen Rodriguez,executive secretary;Ken Burrill, vice presidentfor administration and ministerial;and Abel Paulín,vice president for Spanishlanguageministries andevangelism coordinator.Free daily medical clinicstreated more than 600patients under the directionof Julius Garner, M.D., andchildren’s ministries workshopswere conducted byRhoda Burrill, children’sministries director. In additionto providing theseservices, the underlyingThe <strong>2007</strong> camp meetingseason witnessed theintroduction of new servicesfor its Haitian constituentsin their native Creolelanguage. Six hundred andfifty people attended themeetings held at BethelL’Eglise Haitenne Des <strong>Adventist</strong>esin Orlando.Conference pastors coordinatedthe services andprovided the preaching forthe Friday night and Sabbathservices. Mike Cauley,Conference president, lenthis support and presencein an afternoon forum withchurch members.The Sabbath eveningpurpose forthe trip was toobserve firsthandthe successfulsmallgroup evangelisticministriesnow explodinginto rapidchurch growthin the PeruUnion Mission.The participantstriedto discoverworking principlesthat caneffectively betransplantedinto evangelisticministriesin the FloridaConference.The PeruMission Project was coordinatedby Bob Boggess, laypastoral ministries coordinator;Abel Paulín; andHaitians Gather at First Camp MeetingEnthusiasm among the 650 attendees at the Haitian camp meetingswelled with every service. Prayer and praise highlighted thepowerful Spirit-filled weekend where the capacity crowd promptedevent planners to talk of a larger gathering site in 2008.service began with a youthconcert. The program alsofeatured testimonies ofpraise and concluded witha prayer and anointingservice.
