September 1, 2004.15A <strong>NC</strong>AC 18D .0201 GRADES OF CERTIFICATIONApplicants for the various grades <strong>of</strong> certification shall be at least18 years old and meet the following educational and experiencerequirements:(1) GRADE A-SURFACE shall have one yearacceptable experience at a surface waterfacility while holding a Grade B-Surfacecertificate and have satisfactorily completed anA-Surface school conducted by the Board.(2) GRADE B-SURFACE shall:(a) Be a college graduate with abachelor's degree in the physical ornatural sciences or be a graduate <strong>of</strong> atwo year technical program with adiploma in water and wastewatertechnology, have six months <strong>of</strong>acceptable experience at a surfacewater facility and have satisfactorilycompleted an B-Surface schoolconducted by the Board, or(b) Have one year <strong>of</strong> acceptableexperience at a surface water facilitywhile holding a Grade C-Surfacecertificate and have satisfactorilycompleted a B-Surface schoolconducted by the Board.(3) GRADE C-SURFACE shall:(a) Be a college graduate with abachelor's degree in the physical ornatural sciences or be a graduate <strong>of</strong> atwo year technical program with adiploma in water and wastewatertechnology, have six months <strong>of</strong>acceptable experience at a surfacewater facility and have satisfactorilycompleted an C-Surface schoolconducted by the Board, or(b) Be a high school graduate orequivalent, have six monthsacceptable experience at a surfacewater facility and have satisfactorilycompleted a C-Surface schoolconducted by the Board.(4) GRADE A-WELL shall have one year <strong>of</strong>acceptable experience at a well water facilitywhile holding a Grade B-Well certificate andhave satisfactorily completed an A-Wellschool conducted by the Board.(5) GRADE B-WELL shall:(a) Be a college graduate with abachelor's degree in the physical ornatural sciences or be a graduate <strong>of</strong> atwo year technical program with adiploma in water and wastewatertechnology, have six months <strong>of</strong>acceptable experience at a well waterfacility and have satisfactorilycompleted an B-Well schoolconducted by the Board, or(b) Have one year <strong>of</strong> acceptableexperience at a well water facilitywhile holding a Grade C-Wellcertificate and have satisfactorilycompleted a B-Well school conductedby the Board.(6) GRADE C-WELL shall:(a) Be a college graduate with abachelor's degree in the physical ornatural sciences or be a graduate <strong>of</strong> atwo year technical program with adiploma in water and wastewatertechnology, have three months <strong>of</strong>acceptable experience at a well waterfacility and have satisfactorilycompleted an C-Well schoolconducted by the Board, or(b) Be a high school graduate orequivalent, have six months <strong>of</strong>acceptable experience at a well waterfacility, and have satisfactorilycompleted a C-Well school conductedby the Board, or(c)Hold a Grade A-Surface certificationand have satisfactorily completed aC-Well school conducted by theBoard.(7) GRADE D-WELL shall be a high schoolgraduate or equivalent, have three months <strong>of</strong>acceptable experience at a well water facility,and have satisfactorily completed a C-Well orD-Well school conducted by the Board.(8) GRADE A-DISTRIBUTION shall have oneyear <strong>of</strong> acceptable experience at Class B orhigher distribution system while holding aGrade B-Distribution certificate and havesatisfactorily completed an A-Distributionschool conducted by the Board.(9) GRADE B-DISTRIBUTION shall:(a) Be a college graduate with abachelor's degree in the physical ornatural sciences or be a graduate <strong>of</strong> atwo year technical program with adiploma in water and wastewatertechnology, have six months <strong>of</strong>acceptable experience at a Class B or<strong>19</strong>:<strong>06</strong> NORTH CAROLINA REGISTER September 15, 2004636
