In 2008 students can either record on-line or inpaper-based activity logs. Their coordinator will approve theiractivity on-line and then they will be rewarded with a PbaC medal– Silver this year if they participated in 2007!The Challenge commences the first day of school and concludesthis year on the last day of Term 3 – Friday 26th September 2008.Reception to Year 9 participants.Training and development for schools will be dependent uponsufficient numbers but schools that commit to the Challenge will besupported with visits if requested.All students in the State.A teacher to coordinate the group and some resources – paper forrecording and some internet access.Website, professional learning, some financial incentives, prizes tostudents and schools.No direct cost to participants.SPECIFIC DETAILSThe Challenge is perfect for entering into the spirit of the Olympics– acknowledging student participation in physical activity! Soencourage student participation in third term before the Challengewinds up for 2008! Awards will be sent to schools just before PEWeek (term 4, week 5) – a great time to celebrate achievements.District meetings as invited by coordinators, some school visitsdepending upon numbers.Students with disabilities can now be part of the Challenge. Juniorprimary students can record on-line using a graphics basedinterface.Grant High, Kingston Community, Warradale Primary, KidmanPark PS, Seaford Rise PS, Underdale High - & many others.Premier’s be active Challenge Ambassadors have visited anumber of schools.Will visit most districts throughout the year. Aim to enhance linkswith the Office for Recreation and Sport’s Schools Network. Welook forward to responding to requests to visit.ANY OTHER COMMENTS/INFORMATIONThe Premier’s be active Challenge is gathering momentum. In its first year, around 7,500 students completed 4weeks of activity and received a medal. This year we anticipate doubling the number of completions. Of courseall of the activity undertaken at sports clubs contributes to the completion of the Challenge. So coaches andadministrators along with teachers and parents will find the Challenge a great tool for encouraging kids to beactive.
