Prior to his present assignment, Dr. Arora hasworked as the Librarian (2003-2007) and Deputy Librarian (1991-2002) at the IndianInstitute of Technology Delhi. He was also the National Coordinator of the INDEST-AICTE Consortium, one of the most successful consortia initiatives in India, since itsinception in 2002. He served as Librarian at IIT Bombay from June, 2002 to August,2003 and was Documentation Officer at the National Institute of Immunology, Delhi(1983 - 1991) and Asstt. Documentation Officer, ICRISAT, Patancheru, A.P. (1980 -1983). Dr. Arora is recipient of Fulbright Professional Fellowship in Library andInformation Science (1997 – 98). He has been a fellow of SIS (1999), has received manyawards namely SATKAL Young Librarian of the Year 2001, Librarian of the Year(IASLIC, 1999), ILA-Kaula Best Librarian Award (2004); and Master Motilal SanghiBest Librarian Award (2009). He delivered 7 th Dr. S.R. Ranganathan Memorial Lectureorganized by Delhi Library Association in 2009. Dr. Arora was the Principal Investigatorfor several projects sponsored by AICTE, Deptt. of Biotechnology, Ministry ofSATKAL LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD 1

Information Technology, Ministry of Human Resource Development, the NationalHighway Authority of India, and the University Grants Commission. He is the PrincipalInvestigator of the Project entitled “National Library and Information Infrastructure forScholarly Content (N-LIST)” funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Developmentunder the National Mission of Education through ICT. The project provides access toselected e-resources to more than 6,000 collages in India. He was a member of thedelegation that visited selected libraries and library science schools in Germany in 2002.He was a member of delegations to Jakarta and Bangkok, deputed by the Ministry ofExternal Affairs and Ministry of Science and Technology to discuss development ofINDO-ASEAN S & T Digital Library in 2003 and 2007 respectively. Dr Arora was amember of the International Library Advisory Boards of IEEE and IEE. Dr. Arora hasmore than 70 research articles to his credit that were published in learned researchjournals and as chapters in books and conference proceedings. He has presented researchpapers in several national and international conferences and symposia in India andabroad.His current research interests includes consortia-based subscription to e-resources,digital libraries, digitization of old and fragile documents and their storage, databasedrivenWeb interfaces and Web-based library services, Web-based learning andeducation, access management technologies, scientometric analysis, etc.In view of his unique achievements, Satinder Kaur Ramdev Memorial Trust forAdvancement of Librarianship (SATKAL) is immensely pleased to confer the SATKALLife Time Achievement Award 2011 today on 27 August 2011 at the Indira GandhiNational Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi.SATKAL LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD 2
