While travelling in Turkey in 2006,
Bronwyn Lovell hailed a taxi to travel
a quick ive minutes up the road.
However, the driver took her to a
deserted ield, stopped the car and
made a phone call.
She told him over and over again
that she had to go to the bus station
because her friends were waiting
for her. After about 20 minutes, he
thankfully turned the taxi around and
took her where she wanted to go.
Once there, he charged her for the
40-minute detour, and she argued
with him but in the end, crying, paid
the outrageous amount. He then put
his hand up her dress and pushed his
ingers inside of her. She got out of
the car and he drove of laughing.
Since then, she often thinks about
the many factors that contributed
to the chain of events, and wonders
how things might have happened
diferently.
